January 21st Wedding in the barn

I recently had my wedding in the Barn at Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa and to say the entire day was amazing would be an understatement!!!! Our event coordinator Morgan Doyle was there every step of the way and helped make our day run smoothly and it was PERFECT!!! The food was fantastic, our cake made by one of their bakers Alex was TO DIE FOR!!! I can’t recommend having a wedding at the venue enough !!!!

So easy to work with, the staff at Buttermilk Falls truly go above and beyond.

My partner and I planned a wedding in less than 6 months at Buttermilk Falls. From the minute we stepped on the property, we knew we loved it. The grounds are so well kept, the event planners and staff are so friendly! There are several options for your big day and no hidden fees when working with the folks here. Our event planner Morgan was phenomenal. She kept us on track, checking in regularly and responding in a timely manner to our every small question. Once the time came for our wedding weekend, Buttermilk Falls exceeded our expectations. Our families loved our welcome event with freshly made pizza and the best charcuterie. The kids in our family loved exploring the grounds and seeing all the animals. Our wedding day was magical despite it raining precisely during our outdoor ceremony, and the barn was the perfect spot for our group of 75 to eat, drink, and dance the night away! THE FOOD AT BUTTERMILK FALLS IS ALSO PHENOMENAL. Truly cannot be said enough. The ingredients are fresh, the menus are thoughtful and the staff is incredible. I highly recommend this venue and would absolutely plan a wedding here again if I had to do it over.

Magical venue for a city couple

Buttermilk was a spectacular venue for our wedding of 50 people. It was a perfect escape from our home in NYC, but close enough that our city friends could still come up just for the wedding. The grounds at Buttermilk are gorgeous, especially for us in late May. We held our ceremony on the patio overlooking the Hudson, with the reception in the barn. The food for both cocktail hour and dinner very much impressed, since the catering goes through the on-premise restaurant Henry's at the Farm. Multiple guests remarked how much they enjoyed their meals, which was important for us since we think bad wedding food can ruin the evening. We also did the rehearsal dinner -- a whole roast pig! -- at Buttermilk, which was awesome. The barn is perfect for smaller weddings, as it has an intimate feeling without being too rustic (like some barn venues can be). Having the rooms available on-site for VIPs is also a huge plus, though we also booked a block of rooms for other guests for overflow and for who did not want to spend as much. What you will not find advertised on Buttermilk's website though is the exceptional staff, especially the wedding coordinator Michael. He helped manage the entire wedding planning process from the Buttermilk side and was able to anticipate many of our questions in advance. His list of recommended vendors was also stellar, especially since his working relationships with them made the evening run even more smoothly. Day-of, Michael kept the evening running on-schedule which let us just enjoy the time with our guests. The serving staff that Michael also selected for both the rehearsal and reception were very professional while also being friendly and personable. The entire weekend felt so magical, and we really owe a lot of that to Buttermilk.

Our wedding would just not have been as good without Michael, and the whole team, at Buttermilk Falls. It’s hard to even imagine that we once considered anywhere else. First, he location is absolutely gorgeous. The estate is 75 acres in the Hudson valley, and has breathtaking views of the Hudson river, as well as picturesque trees, bridges, and more. There are a variety of backdrops where you can get married, from a cozier area under a willow tree to a pavilion overlooking the river to a large rustic barn that is perfect for both the reception or the ceremony. There are rooms in the inn, or several cottages and guest houses for you and your guests that is not only convenient but makes everyone feel like they are part of a special vacation from the outside world. We worked with Michael over the course of several months. There were things we didn’t even know we needed to plan for that were made effortless. Our rehearsal dinner and our reception were catered by Henry’s, the farm-to-table restaurant there, and we had a variety of options, all delicious. The staff came to know us over those couple of nights such that we not only all knew each other by name, but we felt they were a *part* of our wedding as much as our guests. We were delighted to see later that the serving team took a group photo to leave for us. There’s just no way to articulate comprehensively everything that made this the right choice. Essentially, everything was made easier for us, and nothing was made harder. All of our guests fell in love with the place, and to a one, the guests said it was one of the best weddings they’d ever been to. Something that says a lot: we had planned to get married on the pavilion. But it rained the day of our wedding. Far from being a catastrophe, the team quickly set up the barn for the ceremony and it was so good, we forgot we hadn’t decided to get married there to begin with. We loved our experience & it’s kind of a shame we just can’t do it all over again.

We got married at Buttermilk last July; it was a fabulous experience! The venue is so beautiful, food is delicious and staff is very professional; Michael Elbe and his team took care of everything so the day went smoothly. Also the venue is close to Poughkeepsie train station so guests coming from New York can take the train from Grand Central and don’t need to drive...

Buttermilk Falls Inn is perfect. If you're looking for a venue that has it all, look no further! We wanted a place with gorgeous grounds, beautiful views, and accommodations for our out of town family and friends. BFI had all of that and more. We had all of our events for the weekend at BFI, which was fantastic because we never had to leave and every event felt special and different. Our pizza themed rehearsal dinner was outside of the Main Inn, our wedding ceremony was outside at Swan Pond, our reception was tented on the Patio overlooking the Hudson River and our after party was in the Barn complete with comfort food. The food all weekend was absolutely incredible and our family and friends still rave about how delicious everything was. Coming from a food-loving Italian family, that's some compliment! My husband and I still crave the Tuna Poke from cocktail hour.

Throughout the entire planning process Michael was a dream to work with and went above and beyond. He was so organized and helped us bring our dream wedding to life. He did everything from reminder emails, to organizing an extremely detailed planning meeting, to excellent vendor recommendations and coordinating all rentals. Michael is a true professional and offers valuable and expert opinions, and he thinks of EVERYTHING!

The entire weekend ran so smoothly and Annemarie (our designated event captain for the weekend) and her daughters ensured that every detail was executed perfectly. They could not have been nicer and more helpful all weekend. Whenever I turned around Annemarie was always there to make sure I had what I needed. People always say something is bound to go wrong, but thanks to this incredible team I can say everything was flawless. My only wish is that we could do it again and relieve this fairytale of a day at this fairytale of a venue all over again.

Stepping foot onto the grounds we knew immediately we were meant to get married here. Our reception was in the barn and the patio overlooking the Hudson was our ceremony site. People raved for days about how delicious the food was (family styled buttermilk fried chicken and beef tenderloin with an amazing cocktail hour)! Michael the coordinator was beyond exceptional, our day wouldn’t have been what it was without him. I really can’t say enough other than this is the best venue in NY!

We had a full weekend wedding event in September, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Michael the venue coordinator is a dream to work with, and whenever we needed anything all weekend, he was right there with us. We rented out the entire inn for the weekend and every last request our crazy family had was taken care of, and they were truly the nicest people ever. The food was outstanding, and some of our guests joked that it wasn't just good for wedding food, it was like going to an amazing restaurant.

If you’re thinking about having a fairytale wedding, then Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa is the place. The venue is truly unique and beautiful. Not only did our guests enjoy our daughter’s wedding, but they expressed interest in returning to Buttermilk for other special occasions, such as a family reunion or for New Years!
The accommodations were great. We had some guests stay at Buttermilk and everyone enjoyed the convenience of being right there and found the grounds to be a relaxing and fun environment.
Working with Michael was such a pleasure. He responded to all our questions and concerns immediately. The wedding day itself, was just perfect and we attribute that to Michael’s hard work and attention to detail. Still trying to figure out how one person can be in many places at the same time. Michael, Anne Marie and the entire staff received rave reviews from all. The food from Henry’s was exceptional. No stone was left unturned. They gave us the opportunity to have fun. The comments from our guests were, “Best wedding ever!” “Buttermilk is simply charming.” “Love it!” “Will you help me plan my wedding, this place is great.”
In the end, if we were to do it all over again we wouldn’t change a thing. Thanks Michael!!!

My husband and I were married here in September 2016. The magical grounds, enchanting reception space, and exceptional service made for a fairytale wedding weekend.

The planning process was a breeze, thanks to Buttermilk's coordinator, Michael. We booked the venue about a year and a half from our wedding date, and Michael walked us through the process step by step -- many times knowing the answers to our questions before we even asked! Every person we talked to during our stay (family and Buttermilk staff, too!) spoke tremendously of Michael, and to us, that's a testament to how amazing Michael is at what he does.

We spent the weekend at Buttermilk with our closest family and friends. The majority of our guests came from Long Island, Manhattan and Connecticut; it's an accessible venue that somehow manages to feel completely off the beaten path. The Inn has rustic charm -- and the cottages and houses on the property have modernized amenities. There was a hiccup or two in coordinating the room assignments for the weekend, but all worked out in the end. We heard nothing but great things from our guests about their weekend stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Pony's Pad, which overlooked the stunning grounds.

The rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, held on the patio outside the Inn, ran so smoothly. We had our ceremony near Swan Pond, and the grounds were meticulously groomed in preparation for the big day (despite there having been rainfall the night before). The Barn, the site for our cocktail hour and wedding reception, was gorgeously intimate and romantic. The barn's balcony, which overlooks the surprisingly not-stinky farm, has a lovely view. Unlike many other rustic reception sites, this barn is climate controlled and has a full kitchen. Two major pluses!

We had an amazing weekend. The whole experience was everything we could have imagined -- and more. We're tremendously grateful.

Our wedding at Buttermilk was seriously a dream come true. We lucked out with beyond perfect weather and everything was flawless. Michael Elbe was above and beyond a lifesaver and one of the best parts of Buttermilk. He is extremely responsive, helpful and you can tell he really loves what he does. He really stood out and helped alleviate so much stress I was having. My husband and I stayed at the pony pad and our groomsmen had the riverknoll house and both places exceeded our expectations. I seriously can't wait to come back. Everyone is still telling us how amazing the food is. Buttermilk doesn't offer traditional tasting but you can dine in the restaurant to get an idea of the quality of the food which is what we did and the food was even better than we thought it would be and both my husband and I are in the restaurant industry in NYC. The staff for the reception was really spectacular. I really can't say enough of how amazing Buttermilk is and how the staff really took our weekend to the next level. This venue blew away us and all our guests. Do yourself a favor and get married here.

Our wedding at Buttermilk Falls Inn was a dream come true. from the first time we set foot on the property we knew this was the perfect place for our wedding. It is a truly unique place nestled into the woods on the Hudson River and is part B&B and part farm with orchards, gardens, and some adorable llamas and goats and other animals. The entire inn and grounds are gorgeous and bountiful with life and natural beauty. Michael, the event coordinator, was wonderful and made the process of planning the event easy and enjoyable. He guided us through the entire process and then on the day of the wedding, he was there to make sure everything ran smoothly, which it did. Michael also directed our wedding rehearsal and set up the rehearsal dinner the evening before the wedding. We had our ceremony on the patio overlooking the Hudson River and our reception in the barn event space, which we were able to decorate the day before and the morning of. Catering is done by the on site restaurant, Henry's, and the food was amazing. We had so many choices and were not tied to a specific wedding package so we were able to get exactly what we wanted. And we liked that they use as many local and sustainable ingredients as possible. Our guests raved about everything! We spent the weekend at Pony's Pad, one of the several guest houses at Buttermilk Falls which was super comfortable. The day after the wedding we got massages after breakfast and spent the day at the spa. We couldn't be happier with our experience and we look forward to spending an anniversary or two at Buttermilk falls Inn in the future.

Buttermilk Falls Inn executed our three (3) wedding events flawlessly. The wedding coordinator Michael Elbe was incredible and attentive to every detail throughout the entire process. He was always responsive and remembered all of the small things to make our wedding weekend a success. The staff that he managed provided excellent service. The chef and his team served amazing food. The food all weekend was spot on and we received numerous compliments from our guests. The setting of Buttermilk itself is amazing and all of the guests were in awe of the property. Overall Buttermilk and Michael Elbe went above and beyond throughout the entire wedding weekend. We couldn't speak more highly of their capability to host and execute a wonderful wedding reception and additional events.

Buttermilk Falls was the perfect location for our wedding, and that was largely due to their absolute gem of a coordinator, Michael Elbe. Michael was responsive and professional throughout the planning process and helped pull off our big day seamlessly. Though we had a small wedding of about 55 people, we felt that no shortcuts were taken and that Michael and his fantastic team really went above and beyond for us. While Buttermilk isn't cheap, you 100% get what you pay for and more. It was important to us that the food served to our guests was high quality and a year later, our friends and family are still raving about it. Beyond the food, the property itself is really beautiful and accessible to New York City which was fantastic. There's just not enough nice things I can say about the whole experience (and for the millionth time, thank you Michael!!!!!)

We had the wedding of our dreams here! All aspects of the planning with Michael were handled with great care and attention. I felt truly cared for even though we were a small wedding of 45 people which was usually met with disinterest when we contacted other venues. From our first email interactions to the days before the wedding, Michael was quick to reply and took care of everything we needed. When details did not go exactly as planned, Michael brought it to our attention quickly and gave us solutions. The views at Buttermilk are exceptional and made for pictures and memories that will last forever. The food was excellent, the ambience of the barn was beautiful, and the friendliness of the staff was appreciated by all of our guests. We stayed in Pony's Pad which was an ideal room for us so we both had our own floors to get ready on and there is a beautiful patio to take pictures from without seeing other guests before the ceremony. I look forward to coming back and celebrating our anniversaries with a fire, dinner at Henry's, and a massage at the spa

I cannot express in only a few words how pleased we are with our choice to have both our rehearsal dinner and wedding at Buttermilk Falls Inn. I am being limited on space so here's the most important note:

Michael Michael Michael!!!! What would we have done without you!!! This man is an asset to BMF and deserves all of the credit for making our wedding experience perfect! Michael works LONG days and has a lot on his plate, but always made as much time for us as we needed. All of our guests knew him by the end of the evening, and are still raving about how much he did and how helpful he was. From his menu recommendations (thanks for the hanger steak tip... no one can talk about the wedding without commenting on those melt-in-your-mouth slices of heaven), greeting us with champagne flutes as we walked from the ceremony to the barn for the reception, to his "pep talk" for the Best Man before his speech, Michael really knows how to create an experience for his clients.

The rehearsal dinner was large (22 people) and it felt like we took up the majority of the space at Henry's. I was nervous that we would overwhelm the staff and experience long wait time for our meals. Both Sarah and Peter made it a memorable and intimate evening, with guests raving about the service and food!

Our guests are thrilled with the entire wedding experience and so are we! We recommend BMF to anyone planning an event in the Hudson Valley. The friendly staff, attention to detail, beautiful property and outstanding food choices will be worth every penny!

Buttermilk Falls was an amazing venue for our wedding! Our guests were in awe of the grounds, the ceremony location, and the amenities. Michael, the event coordinator was amazing to work with and made our big day go so smoothly!

We had a small wedding in the barn and it turned out exactly the way we had hoped. The food, from the raw oyster bar to the succulent beef, catered by Henry's was delicious and our guests could not stop talking about it!

The venue itself was beautiful, with so many of the amenities (bathrooms, air conditioning, nearby kitchen) already present so that the planning was a breeze. The friday before the wedding we hosted a rehearsal dinner in one of the houses with a breathtaking view of the river and a whole pig roasting! Michael also made it possible for us to host an afterparty after the reception on Saturday in the cottage across from the barn where we served late night snacks and partied until 4! There were so many ways we could leverage buttermilk's many housing and party location options!

The hotel is beautiful and it was so great to have most of our guests staying on the premises so that we could spend quality time with them. With fresh breakfast and afternoon tea served as well as a wonderful spa on the premises, we felt pampered the whole weekend!

Finally, I have to mention Michael specifically. He was so responsive and flexible during the whole planning process and we didn't have to think twice about the logistics the whole weekend because he was so on top of everything! He was able to create the right packages for our budget for food, rooms, and rentals (and even found me cheaper linens when I wasn't happy with what the vendor was providing). Thank you thank you Michael and Buttermilk for making our day so so special!

If I had an hour, I could write pages about all of the ways that my wedding at Buttermilk Falls absolutely rocked. But I don't so I will just go for a bullet point listing:

    - My guests were absolutely blown away by the location. The grounds are gorgeous, the houses and rooms are spectacular, and the breakfast served every morning is absolutely off the chain. So many bonus points for all of the rescue animals!

-We did a simple burger bar for our rehearsal dinner in the largest house overlooking the river, and it was perfection! Annemarie and her staff were absolutely awesome, the food was delicious, and I literally did not have to worry about a thing.

-The day of the wedding the wedding coordinator, Michael, was all over the place, making sure that everything was perfect. And it was! Everything with my vendors went exactly as planned, he made sure that everyone had what they needed, the ceremony was seamless, and our party in the barn was So. Much. Fun. We did a pig roast, and while I didn't get a chance to eat more than five bites of food throughout the night, I heard over and over again how amazing all of the food was.

-Buttermilk Falls is not an inexpensive place to have a wedding, but Michael went above and beyond throughout helping me keep expenses down wherever possible. He was extremely flexible and willing to work with me to find the best solution to every question or challenge that arose.

    - Buttermilk Falls as a location to have a wedding is pretty much beyond compare. But truly it was Michael, Annemarie and their staff that made the experience so great for us. They are not phoning it in, they care about you and your happiness as your big day approaches and arrives, and I just could not have asked for more from them. I can't really comment on any of the other inn staff, but the event staff is first class all the way. They thought of and took care of every little detail, and I never worried for a second that anything was being overlooked.

If you are looking for a fairytale wedding this is your place! The minute you take a look at the Buttermilk Falls Inn you will fall in love. It's 70 plus acres are amazingly beautiful as are each room in the inn as well as houses. Our wedding looked like something out of a fairytale wedding. It was a beautifully adorned tent perched right on the Hudson. If you are looking for a unique and truly special place this is it. The food was remarkable with all farm fresh ingredients crafted to our preferences and the hardwork and dedication by Pat and Michael who you should contact CAN NOT be surpassed. The attention to detail was remarkable and they are simply wonderful people. We have had nothing but rave reviews about our wedding site and how special our wedding weekend was. There is truly something for everyone there. The children love the animals on the property including the peacocks which are amazing. Some of our guests just liked visiting the spa, while others just walked around and took pics of the landscapes. We can not wait to get back up there and encourage anyone looking for a wedding that isn't cookie cutter and truly special to take a drive up. You will be very grateful you did.

    Beautiful venue

We wanted a Barn wedding, and Buttermilk Inn’s Barn was perfect! The property is beautiful and there are endless spots to chose from for photos! The accommodations at the Inn are top notch, and The Grand Laurel is perfect for getting ready. The servers and bartenders were fabulous!!!!! Annemarie made sure I was well taken care of all night! We couldn’t have had a better experience!

    My Daughter's Wedding Weekend

Although my daughter had already chose a different venue for her ceremony and reception; we were looking for a plave for family and the wedding party to stay that was not a chain hotel. We found and chose the Buttermilk Falls Inn. It's charm and beautiful grounds and accommodations brought us in. We had our rehearsal dinner and Sunday brunch on site. And our guests were able to enjoy the grounds etc. The place exceeded our expectations! Morgan and the staff were wonderful. The staff at the Inn are genuinely kind and accommodating. The food was amazing, the rooms are gorgeous, as are the grounds! I highly recommend a visit any time. And if you're planning an event, you couldn't find a better place!

My husband and I had the wedding of our dreams at Buttermilk Falls on 10/8/16. We had a wedding of 82 guests, with a ceremony at the Swan Pond and a reception at The Barn. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, with a natural and rustic feel. It is the perfect venue for a couple looking for a unique but classy wedding with rustic charm. It really felt like a fairy tale to be married in front of swan-surrounded willow tree, then dance the night away in a renovated barn. The event coordinator, Michael, is very responsive via email and will work with you to customize your event exactly as you like it. They are also very flexible and allowed us to visit the venue with multiple vendors on multiple occasions. The food at the wedding, catered by the onsite restaurant, Henry's, was absolutely delicious. We got so many compliments from the guests on the food and on the venue in general. It is truly a magical location for a beautiful and unique wedding! The accommodations are also gorgeous. We stayed at Pony's Pad, which was a fun and quirky 1 bedroom house with a lovely deck overlooking the river and a dramatic spiral staircase (careful walking down this in your wedding dress)! We can't wait to return here for a future anniversary to relive our wedding memories.

    delightful and well executed

My husband and I had the most wonderful October wedding at this charming venue. Our sweet and simple celebration turned into a magical day, thanks to the outstanding efforts of Morgan, our fantastic planning manager. From start to finish, everything was executed flawlessly. The staff's helpfulness and efficiency added an extra layer of fabulousness to our special day. We couldn't be happier with our choice of venue for our wedding.
