We can’t say enough good things about our experience with Chive, who catered our rehearsal dinner at a family house near Boston. First, the food was just incredible. The appetizers, meal, desserts, and drinks were all just fabulous - so high quality and delicious without being overdone. Secondly, the team was so accommodating, flexible, and friendly. Our transportation to the rehearsal dinner was a nightmare and most of us arrived about an hour late. The Chive team flexed their whole timeline to keep the food warm, and kept everyone calm in the meantime. Their team was so lovely and it was so special to have them as a part of our evening. -
Mai-Khoi Sent on 09/25/2018We loved working with the Chive. Holly, Jen, and Lizzie were wonderful, from our initial meeting all the way through the wedding day. We talked to them about our (very vague) vision and elements that we thought we might like to incorporate, and they worked nothing short of magic to build on that and bring it to life. We loved the centerpieces, and also especially loved the design they came up with for the fireplace, which was a subtle nod to our engagement story. Our only regret is that we weren't able to take the time to appreciate everything in person as much in the craziness of the actual wedding day - but we love how they look in photos too! The Chive's team was flexible, communicative, and a pleasure to work with, and we loved their mindfulness of sustainability in all of their work. We can't thank them enough and wholeheartedly recommend the Chive!

User1498490 Sent on 01/07/2014I can't enough wonderful things about Jen and the entire Chive team. I was planning the entire wedding from Chicago without any trips back East, so we had to coordinate entirely through phone/email. Chive completely "got" the vibe and feel we were going for, and put together a lovely and stress-free day. They were more than willing to incorporate many of our ideas and DIY touches. We had them do our personal flowers as well, and despite not knowing what exactly what was in bloom/available from the gerdens that week, they were perfect (not for the micro-managing bride!).
The week before the wedding, I decided to have Jen do day-of coordinating as well when we realized we had no idea how to cue people from one thing to the next. She was completely amazing and everyone who she interacted with loved her.
And lastly, the food was amazing. We are still getting comments about the cheese board! Hands down, the most important and best choice we made in wedding vendors.

Beth Sent on 06/02/2011Chive Sustainable Event Design and Catering (www.chiveevents.com) did an amazing job at our May 2011 wedding at the Harry Parker Boathouse in MA. The food (cocktail hour and dinner) was fresh, locally-sourced, and unbelievably good. A few of our guests asked for the caterer's cards during our wedding, and my husband said his only regret from the day was that he didn't get to go back for seconds before we had to jump up to make the rounds to our guest tables.
Jen, one of the owners, also did all of our day-of-coordination (rental ordering and delivery, set-up, cueing, etc.) and transformed a fairly minimalist, industrial space into a clean, bright, and welcoming space for our guests. She has a great eye for detail, a fabulous disposition, and is calm and totally put together. Combined with the two other owners (the head Chef, Lindsey, and Business Director, Julia), the Chive team was a joy to work with. -
User1822197 Sent on 09/21/2014We hired Chive for our garden wedding in August (90 guests) in Belmont, MA and truly feel lucky to have found them. Chive provided the food, flowers, cake, design, bar, and general event management, and everything was perfect on the day of the event--extremely smooth execution. We have since had several of our guests tell us (unsolicited) how impressed they were with quality of the food, the look of the event, and the warmth and professionalism of the staff.
We had several phone & in-person meetings with them to plan and felt very happy with their process--they were happy to accommodate some of our food & other requests. One thing to know is that Chive is clearly highly successful and stays very busy. If your event is in the height of summer, understand that they are juggling a lot and may not get back to you right away or some detail may not get through the first time. But on the day of the event, they really were fully focused, and their execution was truly flawless.
Food: Passed appetizers were amazing (Carrot ginger latkes were out of this world!). Very creative and original. We loved the emphasis on fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Every single item was fantastic.
Service: Again, many of our guests commented on how natural and professional the staff were at the wedding. Everything felt extremely smooth.
Design: Excellent design sense. Emphasis on wood, moss, leaves, flowers, etc. The design was simple, natural and gorgeous.
Cake: Caramelized peach cake with blueberries and fresh cream=amazing. Here again, at least 3 friends said it was the best wedding cake they'd ever had.
The whole experience was fantastic, and most importantly: their flawless execution allowed us to relax and fully enjoy our wedding, completely confident they Chive had absolutely everything under control. At no point were we worried at all about any of the details on the day of.
We would hire Chive again in heartbeat. -

delicious dinner, fantastic service!
Chive made our buffet wedding dinner, and everyone raved about the delicious food! We had to delay the start of the ceremony because some beloved guests got caught in bad traffic, and Chive staff were relaxed and flexible about serving some of the hors d'oeuvres before the ceremony to keep guests happy and shifting dinner to be 45 minutes later. Then they cleaned everything up so discreetly I barely noticed. We were very happy with all our dealings with them. They are pricey, but they use all local food and are committed to zero waste, which was important to us. Going with a buffet only allowed us to afford them, and it was well worth it. -

I was very excited to find a company that was able to provide environmentally sustainable service while also providing excellent food. We opted to do a cocktail hour / hors d'oeuvres style reception. The food was tasty - everyone loved it! It was filling and tasty.
I also opted to book a day-of coordinator through Chive. Unfortunately, this service was not what I expected or hoped for. I met with the coordinator before the wedding to go over the day's schedule and what I wanted the venue to look like. Though we had reviewed a plan, on the day it felt like important details were missing. There was also no help from the coordinator to keep to the schedule we'd discussed... I only saw her a couple of times throughout the day. Luckily, I have an amazing family who kept checking in with me to make sure the important events like a first dance and the toasts actually happened!
If I had to do it over again, I would certainly still hire Chive for my catering. However, I would opt to go without a day-of coordinator or find another source. I was hoping that the additional cost would save me stress and allow me to have a worry-free day. Unfortunately, I didn't get what I paid for there.
