    Fantastic Fandom Wedding Planner

Debbie was a dream to work with! She was our day/month of coordinator for our fandom wedding and helped us with any difficult questions that we had along the way. She gave us excellent recommendations and advice throughout the planning process and we could not have be happier with her services. Even when during the reception when I slipped and fell, she was there with a first aid kit and helped to bandage me up. She is everything we wanted in a coordinator and more and would book her again, no questions asked!! If you are looking for the perfect fandom themed (Geek/Nerd) wedding planner, Debbie is your go to girl! Totally recommend her services for planning/ coordinating your event, hands down!

Fandom Affairs Delivered, and then some!

Debbie is a wonderful person, very communicative, approachable yet professional.
We hired Fandom Affairs and bought Debbie's full package for our wedding in Malibu, CA, right before she moved back to Florida.
My wife and I are both into the geeky pop culture thing and we wanted our wedding to be traditional and classy, but to also represent us and our fandoms. Debbie was able to deliver on point, and was willing to work with us and our ideas, as well as provide so many ideas and services from her own connections (which are many).
What she delivered was a primo experience!
First off, we hired her about a year out, and when you do that, there are things that take time, and things that don't need to be taken care of right away. Any time we felt panicky and that we might be missing something, we were able to reach out to Debbie and she would respond and reassure us that we were on track.
Most of the time, any of us planning a wedding are getting married for the first time, and we don't know what the hell we're doing because we haven't done it before! (Hence the need for a good wedding planner).
So it's important to have that person who knows what's going on, and who knows how the process works to guide you. That's what Debbie did.
She's great with details, so let her know what you want, and she will deliver. We had a big picture idea of our wedding being very traditional and classy from the broad view, with these little nerdy details sprinkled over it, and Debbie was not only able to deliver on what we asked for, but also provided so many ideas to help us achieve our vision for our day!
On top of that, the gal was a friggin workhorse day-of.
Here's an example: We purchased seven bottles of fine scotch to serve select guests at our reception as a special treat.
As we were doing our pre-ceremony photos, I realized that we had left them at home in our liquor cabinet... in Los Angeles... no less than an hour's drive from our wedding venue...
I told Debbie, and without missing a beat she said "I'm going to need your house key."
She sent her assistant on the errand to our house to retrieve the scotch, and throughout the ceremony, cocktail hour and lead-up to the reception Debbie solo-ran everything, and didn't miss a beat.
That's just one example of Debbie's work day-of. Our wedding truly went off without a hitch, thanks in large part to Fandom Affairs (aka Debbie).
We couldn't have asked for a better planner/coordinator.

    Gatsby Wedding Planner Extraordinaire!

Debbie Goodrich (Fandom Affairs) was our wedding planner and wedding coordinator for our 1920s Gatsby themed wedding at the Newhall Mansion in Piru, CA. We hired her for full service wedding planning. It was an absolute pleasure to work with such a creative and brilliant professional. We HIGHLY recommend her.

We interviewed several wedding planners and Debbie was the only one who was on top of staying in close contact with us, creating and sustaining a tastefully themed vision and maintaining and executing with professionalism from day 1. We worked closely with her for 10 months. She assisted with vendor meetings and maintaining vendor relations to facilitate a successful event.

Our wedding day went exactly according to schedule, on time and was managed properly with a wide array of vendors. There was not one mishap – or if there was, it was never something we needed to handle – because Debbie handled EVERYTHING (like Olivia Pope)!

The design, theme and atmosphere were superb and exactly what we wanted.

We happily recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding planner specializing in themed weddings.

    Forking Amazing!

LOVE Debbie! We booked her to handle our "month of" coordinating. Our wedding had so many different things going on and she handled all of them perfectly. Not many people can say they wouldn't change a thing about their wedding, but we can't say it enough. It was perfect. She took care of our timeline and coordinating multiple vendors, made sure the tables looked amazing, got our wedding party in line and on cue for a ridiculous wedding party dance down the aisle, all while making sure me and my husband had everything we needed to enjoy our night. None of our guests saw the preparations, we even had a switch from ceremony to reception at the same location that went flawlessly. She was so fun, took control without being domineering and was truly a wonderful person work with. When it was over all I wished was that I had a Debbie in my life every day!

There's no possible way I can say enough good things about Debbie! My now-husband and I tracked down Fandom Affairs very early on into our engagement, knowing that we had a complicated idea for a theme up our sleeves and were spending part of our engagement a few thousand miles away from the state where we wanted to have our wedding. Debbie jumped right in when we told her we wanted not one, not two, but THREE nerdy themes combined for our wedding, and she really seemed to "get" our newly formed vision from the very start. She helped us every step of the way -- from finding a reasonable list of venues to tour on a short trip to the area while we were still living out-of-state (and helping us navigate some potentially stressful venue mix-ups even early on!) to figuring out what to do when our escort cards arrived less than three days before the wedding and weren't done yet! Truly, from start to finish, Debbie was attentive, responsive, creative, and understanding. The meetings she scheduled with us were always a fun mix of nose-to-the-ground important planning and nerding out on the various fandoms that she, myself, and my husband had in common. Every time we had an interaction with her, we always felt like we would step away with things even more cleared up and controlled. On the actual day of, Debbie was an absolute champ in corralling the wedding party, making sure everyone was where they needed to be, and helping to keep us on track while still allowing us to enjoy the day. We received so many comments from guests about how our wedding was "one of the best they'd ever attended," and having Debbie involved throughout this whole process made that "best ever" success possible. We can't recommend her enough! To all the couples considering Fandom Affairs -- ESPECIALLY if you and your partner share some nerdy interests and you really would like your wedding day to feel elegant, personalized, and genuinely "yours" -- I can confidently suggest that you pick Debbie!

Debbie helped us plan our perfect day. We were referred to Debbie by another couple who Debbie helped plan their perfectly unique day.

We did the Partial Planning package -- and Debbie knocked it out of the park. We already had a venue and a couple of vendors picked by the time we brought Debbie in. From there she helped us find some of the rest of our vendors. After meeting with Debbie and throwing out all of our zany wedding ideas, she helped us to edit down to something (fairly) reasonable -- "the King of Clubs marries the Queen of Hearts" -- a unique theme incorporating our love of Disney, magic, and of course, each other. Debbie helped us pick an overall design theme, as well as , and did all the leg work of coordinating our vendors in the weeks leading up to the wedding. She definitely helped take a ton of the pressure off of both of us. By the evening before out wedding, we didn't feel stressed out about anything and simply got to enjoy our out-of-town guests.

On the day of the wedding, Debbie was a Level 20 Wizard. She got to the venue early and worked all day to get everything just perfect for our day. Everything was arranged perfectly -- all the ceremony programs, table decor, small touches -- it was perfect! Debbie made sure that we were fed and periodically drank water during the wedding. Also, there were literally zero problems or issues we had to deal with during the wedding. I am sure that things happened, but Debbie took care of everything like a complete pro and made sure we were able to just enjoy our day.

Bottom Line: Debbie was amazing and she will make your day YOUR DAY. She worked with us to make an event that was 100% us... definitely nothing cookie cutter about Debbie or the weddings the helps to plan!

I have attempted to write this review 1000x already, but every time, I tell myself - “it is just not right!”
Honestly, I don’t know how to put into words the awesomeness that is Fandom Affairs.

I met Debbie over coffee sometime ago, as a fellow wedding vendor - I recall being excited to meet someone who aligned with my love for all things weird, geeky and chic. After meeting Debbie, I immediately knew I had found a gem! A one-of-a-kind gal whom I could easily work with and trust with any of my clients.

Debbie is not only a visionary when it comes to pulling off elegant yet geeky affairs, she is also organized, knowledgeable, kind… and the type of coordinator you want on your side when things go sideways. Debbie knows how diffuse situations, she knows when to step in and when to hang back, she is like a real-life fairy godmother for couples!

We have worked on a few personal projects together, all of which have been fun and perfectly executed. The last wedding we worked together was picked up by one of my favorite wedding blogs, BESPOKE BRIDE! We will be working together again later this year and I’m already hooked on her plans; she knows how to perfectly translate a couple’s unique relationship into an elegant wedding celebration. I cannot wait to work with her again!!

I have the utmost confidence when it comes to recommending Debbie from Fandom Affairs. As a wedding photographer, I only recommend vendors that I personally know will deliver the same level of care that I do. I can sincerely say - Debbie is worth the investment. She will make all your geeky and elegant dreams come true!!

When I met with Debbie for the first time I gave her a vague overview of the non-traditional yet classy wedding I was looking to have. She was able to throw out fantastic ideas that really brought our vision to life. Hence, I hired her. Debbie and her team at Fandom Affairs gave us the wedding of our dreams! We had some outlandish ideas and she was able to incorporate all aspects and reign us in when we went into Crazyland. The most important aspect in choosing our planner was how they were going to wrangle our crazy families and keeping things on track leading up to the wedding. We added a lot of DIY to our day and Debbie made sure our projects got done in a timely matter. The best part, that nobody ever talks about, is that a good wedding planner can save you a TON of money. They negotiate with vendors on your behalf to get you the best deal possible. Debbie was a force to be reckoned with and those vendors didn't stand a chance! Without Debbie in our corner I'm sure we would have gone way over budget. Of course there are hiccups with every event, however, we would never have known because Debbie and her team handled it swiftly and without incident. There was never time we felt stressed on our wedding day because we knew Debbie had it all under control. It made it so much easier to enjoy our day and take it all in. You're not going to find a better coordinator for your events, i promise you that!

FIRST of all, as a wedding photographer, I am adamant about the necessity and value of a wedding planner. Among so many other things, they are able to assist in bringing the vision together and taking point on the big day, so you the couple can actually enjoy it.

But not all planners are created equal! Debbie of Fandom Affairs is a shinning bright spot in my experience shooting Southern California weddings! Not only is she personally a joy to work with, super sweet, and organized... her abilities will blow you away.

I've seen my share of themed weddings, but it's difficult to bridge the gap between the idea and the event, and execute it well. Debbie does this with seamless, TASTEFUL elegance, and I would not trust a fandom vision to anyone else!

I'm so creatively inspired when shooting her events, and look forward to doing so again!

Debbie and Vivian are extraordinary and I cannot recommend them enough! They go above and beyond with everything they do and are total pros. Wedding planning is stressful, especially all the contracts, vendors, little details. That’s where they came in. I got to plan all the fun stuff that I wanted and still get help in the areas that I didn’t know how to do or didn’t want to handle. They made everything so much easier and less stressful. Not only that, but they totally got my vision every step of the way and know exactly how to make out-of-the-box ideas look chic. They are knowledgeable, prepared, organized, reliable, hard-working, and creative. I would highly recommend them to anyone overwhelmed with wedding planning. They are the best!

    Ghosted with the deposit money

I am a bridesmaid in a wedding Fandom Affairs agreed to take on after meeting with the bride and groom. The bride and groom said this meeting went well and paid their deposit for the planner services. After that Fandom Affairs failed to show up to MULTIPLE scheduled meetings, and didn't even have the decency to say anything to the bride and groom. Completely ghosted. They have since refused to respond to single email inquiry, and finally the bride and groom had to fire Fandom Affairs for completely lack of reaponse- and for flat out stealing their deposit money. After each of these meetings where they were stood up, my friends remained understanding and this experience has disheartened and upset them tremendously not to mention the set back to their wedding timeline. If Fandom Affairs was no longer able to do the work they were hired for, they could have had the common decency to alert the bride and groom, respond to literally one email, and return their money as no work had yet been done since they ghosted EVERY meeting after the initial interview. But Fandom Affairs is not a business that operates with common decency and anyone who does business with them is risking them completely bailing with your money.

    So disappointed

Words cannot begin to describe how utterly disappointed I am with Debbie and Fandom Affairs.

We hired Debbie in November of 2021 for our wedding in January of 2023, and at first, it felt like actual magic. We stumbled across her card in a drawer (we must have gotten it at a convention a few years prior) and immediately looked up her website and it felt like fate. The wonderful combination of glamor and nerdiness was *perfect* for us and our wedding, and Debbie seemed to be the exact kind of 'geek' we could get along with. The first few meetings with her she was extremely personable and fun and we thought we were in good hands.

Then she disappeared for a month and didn't reply to our emails.

Since we were so far out from our wedding, we didn't stress. It was the holidays, and 2021 was the nightmare pandemic year, so if she didn't reply to an email in December, we weren't too worried. She eventually got in contact with us again in January and reassured us that she hadn't ghosted, but had simply gotten sick with covid. Debbie then told us it was time to get to work on wedding planning, and set up bimonthly check-ins for us, starting with a few vendor recommendations. She told us we needed to pick a photographer and a DJ, and gave us recommendations to choose from which we would do at the next check-in.

Then she post-poned the check-in, apologizing and rescheduling.

Then she canceled the rescheduled check-in with a note that she had to cancel, no reason provided, no offer to reschedule.

Then she didn't show to the following four check-ins (over almost two months), no notes, no apologies, no notice, and no response to any of our emails.

We finally told her that if she wasn't going to bother to show up to any of the meetings *she* scheduled, or even reply to our emails at *all*, we would have to find another wedding planner. She didn't respond to that email, but she *did* remove us from her aisle planner account she had set up.

I'm so infuriated but also honestly just... shocked she did this. I didn't expect this from her at all, given how wonderful her other reviews were and how friendly she seemed in the few meetings she did bother showing up to. Now my fiance and I have lost out on a good chunk of our wedding budget and are scrambling for a replacement planner and new recommendations (we don't feel comfortable using the ones she recommended to us, even if we never actually got to contact them).

All in all, I would *not* recommend Fandom Affairs or Debbie to anyone looking to plan a wedding with any kind of communication with your wedding planner at all. I know we're still fairly far away from the wedding date, but hell, we would have even accepted a carrier pigeon. Perhaps a message in a bottle? A voice on the wind? Literally anything at all would have been better than absolutely nothing.
