    5 star review

    2 words, RENEICE EDWARDS!

She made everything happen! From the time my fiancé & I had met her back in 2020 to a couple weeks ago when we had our big day. She made the amount of stress we were under go away when it came to our ceremony. We had 16 bridesmaids, 16 groomsmen, 2 flower girls, 2 train holders & 1 ring bearer. Reneice was the important piece that made our ceremony run so smoothly with no problems. Thank you Reneice for absolutely everything

    Love always,
    Adanna & Austin Olomanu

Best venue for our gothic wedding!

FCCLA was the absolutely perfect venue for our gothic wedding! It was so beautiful and well-managed. Reneice was very easy to work with and very helpful in answering all my questions, and she worked with us for about eight months during Covid to make sure we could have both our ceremony and reception at the church. The church staff managed the rehearsal and the wedding with ease, and made sure everything was set up as we desired. They were very flexible and really helped make our dream wedding happen. We couldn't recommend FCCLA (and Reneice) more highly!

We live out of state and so choosing a ceremony location was difficult. We then stumbled upon FCCLA after looking online. Choosing FCCLA for our ceremony was the best decision we made regarding our wedding. We had our wedding weeks ago and guests are still raving about the church/ceremony and how beautiful it was. Our first initial visit to the church took our breath away. It's architecture/style is stunning.

Rev. Ryan & Joanna were amazing to work with and guided us through everything. They were professional and organized and our wedding day went off without a hitch. Rev. Ryan made us feel comfortable and welcome and made our special day memorable.

We highly recommend FCCLA. This is a church that will give you beautiful memories for a lifetime!

If you take nothing else away from this review, just know that our experience with the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles for our wedding was absolutely superb from start to finish, and we have no hesitations recommending them to anyone looking for a breathtaking venue for their wedding.

We began planning for our wedding one year ago and had researched quite a few LA-area venues online. This was the first one we arranged to see, and while we had others in mind, the moment we walked into the sanctuary, we decided that this was where we wanted to get married. The main sanctuary simply has to be seen to be believed (pictures hint at its beauty, but ultimately do not do it justice). It is immense, gorgeous, grand, and simply breathtaking. Everyone at our wedding commented on how beautiful the church was, and we cannot imagine having gotten married anywhere else.

What we are most excited to recommend to others, however, is the fantastic team that has been assembled at FCCLA. We worked with Craig and his team from day one, and the energy and enthusiasm they brought to the proceedings cannot be overstated. Craig in particular was incredibly diligent throughout, quick in responding to all of my inquiries, and thorough in his responses. He coordinated with all the members of his team to accommodate us in all of our various idiosyncratic requests (song requests, use of church equipment, finding a spot for our puppy bar...), and on the day of he was instrumental in helping everything come together (even staying until the very end of the night to snap some last pictures for us). We cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed working with him and the rest of his team.

All in all: our wedding day was one of the best days of our lives, and this is in large part thanks to Craig and his team. Five stars, ten out of ten, two thumbs up, etc. etc. etc. Simply a beautiful experience.

We worked with Larry from FCCLA to plan our wedding ceremony. Everything turned out so beautiful on the day of the wedding. The church itself is breathtaking and the staff was very helpful throughout the whole process!!

Larry was the best Wedding Event On-Site Coordinator the church could have assigned to us. He was truly a God-send!

He provided his creative ideas and suggestions, which made our wedding the most professionally and smoothest run event ever.

His willingness and insight added creativity and beauty to the ceremony and his intuitiveness helped us in our last-minute emergency when we were missing important elements for a special part of our ceremony called "Love Is." Our host pastor could not cease in expressing her gratitude for how helpful he was to her.

We have also received numerous compliments from our guests on how beautiful the church was, but most importantly how professional Larry was with the handling of our event beginning with the wedding rehearsal as well as the day of logistics.

We are eternally grateful to FCCLA and Larry

The church is gorgeous! It's just jaw dropping.
The staff was so easy to work with. They are not one of those churches that makes you jump through hoops. They are the type that are used to doing weddings so they are pros.

FCCLA is such a beautiful church. It's absolutely breath-taking! The church was so pretty that I didn't add anything to it. No flowers, no candles, absolutely nothing. I got so many compliments about the church and how beautiful it was. I loved it because I didn't have to do anything (which is a bride's dream!) Besides the aesthetics of the church, the church has a great responsive staff. Right when you book it to the day you walk down the aisle, you know that your ceremony is all set. On the day of the wedding rehearsal, we got in and out in 30 minutes! The staff and Larry had everything under control and literally answered every question before it was asked. Thank you FCCLA for making my special day memorable :)

This church is so incredibly beautiful and dramatic. There are so many great places for pictures, our photographer was in heaven. Larry was the coordinator on our wedding day, and this guy really knows what he's doing.

FCCLA's church is breathtaking and their wedding coordinators are a god send! Both Joanna and Larry at FCCLA made our wedding planning super easy. The day of the rehearsal was a breeze with Larry at the helm. Using our own pastor was not a problem and their head pastor was easy to work with as well. Would highly recommend this church if you are looking for one amazing wedding!

Most Beautiful Church !! Rev. Ryan Steitz is wonderful. I have never heard so many compliments about how beautiful a church was until I got married here. Great service. Joanna Chong is the wedding coordinator there, we loved her so we used her as our own wedding planner. I would reccommend this church to anyone!!

This was the most gorgeous church. Please see the pictures I've uploaded. Nancy, the onsite coordinator, was great to work with and created a smooth and seamless process for us. We were very happy with this choice and we thought it was very good value as well. It is a giant church and I would recommend it if you wanted to go for the dramatic. We didn't come close to filling it, but we chose it because so much of our ceremony revolved around music and it's a great venue for live music.

We held our wedding at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles and everything was spectacular. The staff, organist and choir director were very helpful and provided us a ceremony we will never forget. They are the best!! The reception rooms are spectacular as well and provide the look and feel for the perfect wedding. If you are looking for a church and reception location, look no more. This church has it all and will ensure you have the wedding you dream of!

We had our wedding ceremony at this wonderful and historic church Memorial Day weekend May 29, 2010. I've always wanted to get married here as I have a history with this church. I(the bride) graduated from Pilgrim School (the school affiliated with the church). As an alumni , they gave us a discount. I've always loved the beauty of this church. The architecture, the arches, the gardens and of course the organ is phenominal ! It has the largest church organ in the world and I've always loved the sound of it. The center aisle is 150ft long. We had around 375-380 guests and the church seats well over 1000.

The church coordinator Nancy Huddleston is great. She's very knowledgeable and thorough. She answered all my emails and questions promptly. She helped a lot with the selection of music for the ceremony and lots of other things. They even gave us an audio cd of our wedding ceremony.

A few other things... This church is very strict on the music it allows to be sung or played. Also, this church is pretty dark inside so you need a knowledgeable photographer to deal with the lighting or else your pictures will turn out pretty dark (no flash photography is allowed during the ceremony). My photographer was excellent and my pictures were awesome !

Beautiful, ornate church suitable for a larger (350 + guests) wedding. The church is able to house a reception indoors for no more than 250-300 guests but has additional space for outdoor receptions. Most likely, you will need to rent chairs unless you are comfortable with blue chairs. Holding a ceremony at this location is costly.

Fantastic venue and great service and professionalism by the church staff.

The cost for reserving the main sanctuary is $2500 and for reserving the church basement for the reception is $2300. You should also consider the outdoor forecourt for cocktail hour ($400 for 4 hour use; $150 for security guard for 4 hrs; $300 for sound system). Also, to make the church basement look pretty, you should consider draping, which will be another $2500.

Both Joanne and Larry are great staff for the church, helpful and responsive.

The quality of the church is really what you pay for. The value of the photos are remarkable and everyone who attended our wedding was blown away by the incredible sanctuary. Joanna is a very helpful coordinator that keeps you updated with all the ongoing decision-making that you need to do and she is much more flexible than your traditional church coordinators.

Beautiful church, and Rev. Ryan was very helpful, easy to work with, and very accommodating with our requests for ceremony additions (i.e. handfasting) that he hadn't performed before. Ryan made us feel at ease during the ceremony, and we felt very comfortable with him. We also hired one of the church's vocalists to accompany several of our songs, and she was excellent. The audio technician even video- and sound-recorded our ceremony for us using our video camera.
Some of the other staff were not as easy to work with, and we did receive some resistance about ceremony choices that were minor and a matter of personal preferences. Also, one male staff walked into the bridal suite when we were getting ready and were only half-dressed, which we weren't too happy about. However, our coordinator was very organized and made sure everything went smoothly on our wedding day.
Overall, we are very happy that we had our ceremony here - the architecture is exquisite and our guests were talking about how beautiful the venue is throughout the rest of the night.

We held both our ceremony and reception at FCCLA and wish we hadn't.

    1. Johanna never picks up the phone and is often late to respond to calls/emails.
    2. I always (and by always I mean 5 out of 5 times I visited) had to wait for her (one time upwards of 20 minutes). I am just as busy as you are and it is just rude to keep your clients waiting.
    3. The REAL reason why I would never recommend having your wedding here is because of the part-time coordinator, Larry. I have never worked with someone, especially in the wedding business, who is so down-right rude!

Larry made many rude comments to me and other people involved in the wedding throughout the process and even on the day of. At first I thought this was all in my head and I was being overly sensitive, but my bridal party started mentioning how rude he was! The lighting guy was also very mean (I never caught his name) and seemed hesitant and unwilling to make the sanctuary lighting how I wanted it. He scoffed and made comments out loud so I could hear and it was just a very poor way to treat someone right before the wedding ceremony. Just a lot of unneccessary and added stress because of the negativity of some of their staff members.

The church is beautiful, yes. But for the steep price, all the damn "rules" of the place, and down-right rude staff members, I would NOT recommend this place. Brides, beware! And if/when Johanna tells you that Larry will be there on the day-of, do everything you can to stop that from happening!
