First and foremost - THANK YOU MARIELLE!

Venue was beautiful. You just can't beat the location, with that view of the beach. The food was excellent as well.

This review is really dedicated to Marielle, my wedding just simply could not have happened without her. She went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure that I was taken care of, that things were exactly how I wanted them, she speaks very fluent English and Spanish so that was a big help when trying to coordinate things with people that didn't speak both languages. She was just so on top of every little detail, and made me feel so relaxed and comfortable and with her around I felt confident that everything was going to be okay. She was very understanding and had great ideas and suggestions.

THANK YOU SO MUCH MARIELLE!!!!!!!!!!!! You and your staff made my day possible!
If you are looking for a fun, simple, and beautiful beach wedding, this is your place!

We just got married at Hosteria del Mar a couple of weeks ago. It was amazing! We had a very small destination wedding so were looking for something very intimate. As soon as we saw the pictures online, we knew it was exactly what we were looking for, and the price was very reasonable too. And it is a short drive (15 min) to Old San Juan so you can have the best of both worlds - beach wedding with Old San Juan photos.

Because our wedding was very small, we didn't use the wedding coordinator package, but dealt with Loisse, the Sales Manager, the entire time. Loisse was very responsive and so happy to help out with any questions I had, and suggested vendors that they have worked with in the past for things like hair and makeup, officiant, flowers. I was in good hands the entire time planning our wedding. We spoke on the phone a couple of times, but communicated mostly through email. She was always very quick to respond.

We did one site inspection once we arrived in San Juan, and everything was just as we had imagined it to be...if not better! The staff there is so helpful and friendly. The day of our wedding went so smoothly. I felt like I didn't have to worry about a thing. We went with the Live at the Grill menu and the food was out of this world...and they were very generous with the drinks as well :) The reception in the open air wedding lounge was perfect...lovely breezes, romantic ambiance, delicious food, and wait staff who go above and beyond. We can't wait to go back for an anniversary trip in the future!

Fabulous! We got married on May 8th, 2011 at Hosteria Del Mar and loved every single thing about it. We arrived 4 days early and when we walked in, we got more than we ever imagined! The pictures of Hosteria Del Mar don't do it justice. When you walk in, you're greeted with elegance and comfort. The staff was amazing, they welcomed us as if we were family and really took time to get to know us - and I mean everyone from the bartneders, the front desk staff, wait staff, to the owners. It was perfect. We've never received that kind of hospitality before. We loved it.

The wedding day itself was the most perfect day I could have ever imagined. It was beyond fabulous. We got married on the beach with our family and friends there, followed by an amazing reception that included the most amazing sangria I've ever had along with a beautiful ocean view. The reception site was perfect.

I highly recommend Hosteria Del Mar. Please feel free to check out our pictures, a few of them are on their website. The pictures speak for themselves! My husband and I will for sure be going back to Hosteria Del Mar, it gave us the most perfect day that we could have ever imagined! Thank you all!

This venue was the perfect representation of what my husband and I wanted for a wedding ceremony and reception venue. It was right on the beach and felt very bohemian chic with a relaxed and rustic atmosphere. The space has beautiful features that you can do so much with to decorate in whatever way you want. Minimal decor is needed with the beauty of the structure. We had our ceremony on the beach and reception in the 5th floor space that had a beautiful patio/terrace overlooking the sea.

Many positivies here - the staff went out of their way to make sure the ceremony and reception went off well. The wedding food was EXCELLENT and was the talk of our guests for months after. The catering and bar staff and catering manager were on their game and delivered great efficiency and customer service.

The only disappointment was that after the cake ceremony it took an extreme amount of time to serve the cake. I'm talking so long that everyone noticed and I had to ask 3-4 times about the cake and half of the guests left in between.

In the end it was a good value for the whole experience and save that one disappointment, we were very satisfied with the evening and how our wedding was handled. I seriously suggest a coordinator if you are planning a destination wedding here. I would suggest having your guests stay elsewhere, as the hotel is going through a transition and I would say the rooms and that side of the business/service still has a ways to go before it catches up to the catering side of things.

When Anne Marie took us to Hosteria Del Mar, we loved it immediately. It is relaxed beachy chic and a complete departure from the high-energy slickness of La Concha. We decided to do the rehearsal dinner & simplified Vietnamese engagement ceremony here. The venue is very romantic, quaint, and peaceful with the ocean breeze licking at the napes of our necks and the sound of waves as background music. It was a perfect setting for the smaller group for the rehearsal.

We served food buffet style with two kinds of amazing ceviche, roasted veggies, Puerto Rican rice, and flan for dessert. We also ordered a whole roast pig, because it was one of Colin’s only asks for the wedding, and because it is a traditional thing to have at the engagement ceremony. I think it may have been the best roast pig I had ever tasted!

The food and service that evening was wonderful. Thank you to Christopher and also Anne Marie for extra oversight. The little hotel also has a restaurant, Uvva, and I would recommend you stop by for a a great meal in a beautiful setting if you are in San Juan.

The venue was beautiful. We had our reception in the wedding lounge downstairs and it was open air to the ocean and a very fun informal setting. The night of the wedding was absolutely perfect and I'm glad we had it there. The reason I'm giving this a low review, however, is because the communication, responsiveness and professionalism were extremely lacking. There were several instances before the wedding when my emails were not responded to and I had to re-send them. They said they could do a vegetarian menu for us (and it was delicious!) but were unresponsive getting us any menu choices so we ended up having to find some things on their menu and ask them if they could make them vegetarian. Then I didn't get a response so just showed up 2 days before the wedding when we flew in hoping that it would all work out. It did, but if you like to have things nailed down and are very detail oriented, this might stress you out. Then we asked them to open the bar 15 minutes before the scheduled start time and they didn't tell any of the people hanging about waiting that they could go in. They also were "out of mint" at 6pm when it first started and said they couldn't make any mohitos. My biggest problem was after the wedding. Our photographer and friend left her $200 tripod at the site. It was locked over night so we came down the next morning and the staff couldn't find it. Over the next two weeks I emailed and called the two wedding planners and was practically ignored. I asked to be reimbursed and only after 2 weeks of honeymoon and one week back in the states, did she finally get back to me saying that the insurance only covers it if you file a police report. That would have been nice to know right off the bat and now it is too late.

We held our wedding and reception here. Everything was beautiful! I just would not recommend anyone staying there. The place needs a lot of renovations but you cant really go wrong with a wedding on the beach and hiring your own decorator. The reception area is nice and has a beautiful view of the ocean.

We live outside of New York and were in communication with Loisse, the coordinator during the year before the wedding. She was very responsive and flexible to our needs. We loved the location and the fact that we could do the ceremony on the beach and the reception in the top floor loft space.
We arrived a week before the wedding and were told to meet with an assistant of Loisse who did not know our wedding date and was very unprepared for our meeting to discuss last minute details. This was very anxiety-provoking for us considering the amount of time we had spent planning the wedding with Loisse.
We immediately pointed these concerns to them but unfortunately on the day of the wedding many of the things they had promised to prepare (i.e. raking the sand for the ceremony, cleaning the reception space, etc) were not done and my family and friends (and groom) ended up having to do them. One of the most surprising things was when my husband ended up having to wash dirty plates left in the reception space hours before the wedding.
The day of the wedding, as my family and friends were setting up the decorations and preparing the space, the assistant from the hotel brought up couples who were looking at the space for their wedding. We found this to be very rude considering the fact that we expected him to be helping us set up rather than doing business with other clients.
It's sad to be writing this review because we got marries there and really loved the location, food and ambiance. I just wish that the staff would of been more respectful, professional and responsive to our needs.

2 hours before the wedding my guests were running around decorating for me because there were no chairs or tablecloths in the reception hall before then and the gazebo had not been moved, no chairs set up for ceremony beforehand so I could not decorate the aisle or chairs. My brother in law, bless him, set up my flower balls and we let the chairs be plain. Food vendor thru hostera was great . food vendor was very professional and helpful but the hotel no, could not get my decorations, never met Loisse, never had hot water for bath, half the outlets in the hotel room did not work, only one bulb in the bathroom, no breakfast .... seems like the hotel is struggling. It is a beautiful venue and I hope they can do better in the future.
