I chose Hotel Laurance for the rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding. This venue is a recently restored boutique hotel in the center of Luray. The restoration is just gorgeous! It was the perfect setting for a memorable evening. I had to plan the dinner long distance and Leah Pence, Event Coordinator for the hotel, was extremely helpful. She answered every query promptly and completely, coordinating with our caterer Main Street Bakery, to make my evening stress-free! She also created fabulous wildflower arrangements for the table and parlor ... the decorations were a casual but elegant addition to an already beautiful venue. The overall experience with Hotel Laurance was exceptional ... and having had a tour of some of the guest rooms, I would also recommend the hotel as a destination for any event.

The Hotel Laurance is absolutely stunning! I want my house to look like this one day. Our room was HUGE and so clean. It felt more like an apartment than a hotel room. I loved everything about this hotel and the woman who runs it. Gail was incredible. She even put rose petals on our bed because it was our wedding night! The ONLY hiccup we had is that we didn't receive our code to get into our room so when we showed up after our reception we didn't know how to get in. However, all it took was a quick phone call and that was that. Yes, she answered the phone at 10:30pm and was all ready with the information!

We had also rented out rooms here for my parents and really close family and friends (there aren't many rooms) and they loved it as well. My aunt said it was the most beautiful hotel she had ever stayed in.

So if you are planning a trip to Luray and are looking for a wonderful place to stay, this is it! I would highly recommend to anyone looking for accommodations for their wedding night as well because it was truly luxury.

We reserved all 12 rooms in the hotel for our wedding party and guests. The Hotel Laurance is beautiful and the rooms and common areas provide a lovely backdrop for wedding photos. The hotel is beautifully decorated. The hotel does not have 24-hour staff but they make checking in at any time a breeze. The limited hours that they have personnel on site did make the process for reserving the hotel a little slow, but they are very pleasant and it was well worth it. Our guests all loved the hotel and it was very close to our venue (as well as several other venues in the area).

We stayed here last weekend for our wedding in Luray and let me just say it was wonderful! Not only are the rooms beautiful and the beds super comfy, the hospitality is top notch. We had a last minute issue with the cabin we were supposed to host our welcome dinner at Friday night and the manager of the hotel, Gail, came through and let us host it in their ballroom for a small fee. She was great - within hours had tables set up with linens, helped set up the food and then helped us break everything down after. It turned out wonderful and all of my guests could not stop raving about it. The next night we booked all of the rooms for our friends and wedding party to stay and they all had the best time. Thanks, Gail for some amazing memories :) I don't know what we would have done with you!

Positives: very nice renovated rooms and beds were comfortable. Nice amenities.

Not so great qualities: Currently planning my wedding and the customer service so far has been pretty bad. Very nice manager although not as organized. Multiple times I have called, talked to the manager and computers have been down. Manager says she will call back and never does. Emails go unanswered and prices are vague. It is listed as a bed and breakfast but only serves fruit and a muffin. They come back with that they serve "continental breakfast." My fiance and I went to Luray to meet other vendors so we decided to stop by to see the hotel. There is no front desk and often there is no one there with guests so we were hoping just to catch the manager by chance. There were 6 guests in the parking lot and they didnt know their room number, nor the code to get into the room. The manager was unavailable. I really hope they were able to get into contact with someone soon.

    Hotel Laurance's reply:

    Hello
I am sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing. We have recently switched over our reservation system and while it isn't an excuse for the lack of service you have received, please understand that is a great concern for us as well.

We are a boutique inn with just 12 rooms. We do not have a front desk and we offer guests their codes for the doors via email in advance of check –in. We do try to be there to greet guests as they arrive. However, it isn't always possible to know when guests are arriving. We are strongly considering hiring a front desk person and I thank you for sharing your concern. This helps us understand the needs of our clients and makes a great case for hiring a front desk person.

As you mentioned we do offer a continental breakfast of homemade pasties and fresh cut fruit.

I manage the event rooms at the hotel and I would be more than happy to talk to you about the event space. Please contact me, Leah Pence, at my email leah@hotellaurance.com I will be more than happy to talk to you and see if we can help.

Thank you again for sharing your concern,
    Leah Pence
