Highly recommend the Kahler Grand Hotel for your wedding
The Kahler helped us plan (and re-plan) our wedding through the COVID pandemic. With so many unknowns in the situation they were always flexible, accommodating and quick to offer solutions. The staff continuously went above and beyond throughout the planning of the wedding and the day of the wedding. Two weeks before our wedding the church restricted our guest list to 10 people, and within a week the Kahler was able to book us a second ceremony hall so our family could still be there to share this once-in-a-lifetime moment with us in person. The wedding coordinators we worked with were phenomenal also! They offered suggestions, answered every single question and on the day of the wedding someone was always nearby in case I needed anything at all. Every detail was attended to and the food was delicious. Our guests were all very impressed with the quality of the service throughout the evening. Our reception was in the beautiful heritage hall which allowed us to space out our guests with lots of room between tables and a large dance floor. Our wedding day was only possible because of the Kahler and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to host an wedding or other event. The Kahler helped us plan (and re-plan) our wedding through the COVID pandemic. Danielle was very helpful during the booking process. She provided necessary information needed and bent over backwards a few times to ensure that our vision came to life! She was very flexible with set-up and tear-down time which was most appreciated!
Being that our venue (Red Barn) was fairly new venue, we felt that some details and information were not clear and well executed via contract and email communication. For example, security officers, linens + napkins, bar services. We feel that minor improvements would benefit this venue greatly. Overall, we felt that we were really well taken care of during the planning process!Danielle was very helpful during the booking process. We had our reception in the Elizabethan Ballroom at the Kahler, and the setting couldn't have been more beautiful! When I had looked at different venue options in Rochester, this ballroom really stood out to me as the most beautiful and unique of them all - with many of the others tending to look very similar to one another. The room is so gorgeous that it doesn't even need much decorating, and they even will let you borrow votive candles and hurricane vases for centerpieces. The other neat thing is that you can rent out the Lord Essex at the same time (which has a door from the ballroom) to be used as extra space and bar area.
We also thought the food was delicious! We did plated and it worked out very well, and we even got to have cheesecake for dessert (yum). I would definitely recommend having a reception here. The capacity for this ballroom is 150, and I honestly kind of liked having a smaller cutoff (a lot of ballrooms we saw were much larger). It wasn't hard to make a room that size feel cozy but not too full. It was beautiful and I wouldn't have changed a thing about our location! We had our reception in the Elizabethan Ballroom at the Kahler, and the setting couldn't have been more beautiful! The Kahler Grand is a beautiful venue with a lot going for it, but unfortunately we were lost in the shuffle. There were SO many details completely forgotten. Both my husband and I spent the days leading up to the wedding in a crazy rush to try to fix all the errors that could have been prevented with better planning and follow through from the Kahler. The Kahler Grand is a beautiful venue with a lot going for it, but unfortunately we were lost in the shuffle. We used the Kahler Grand Hotel because we loved the feel of the venue and it was one of the only indoor venues that would hold our large number of guests. I would not recommend the Kahler to anyone! All of our wedding planners that we worked with at the Kahler kept quitting so we were bounced from person to person and each time we would have to explain our vision and details we had already told numerous people. The communication was terrible. It sometimes would take days to get an answer back. The room block was also a disaster. They kept charging people the wrong amount so I would constantly have to call them and have them reduce the rate. Then they closed my room block early without letting me know so some of my guests were not even able to book under my block. The final straw for me was two days before the wedding when they demanded payment without providing me any sort of bill or estimate. When I had asked earlier in the week for an estimate I was told one would be emailed to me which it never was. The same day they demanded payment I asked again for an estimate which they couldn't give me and then when I tried to call and email them they ignored me. Overall I would not recommend this venue as the beauty of the location and the excellent food are not worth the headaches you will get trying to deal with their staff. We used the Kahler Grand Hotel because we loved the feel of the venue and it was one of the only indoor venues that would hold our large number of guests.
