I asked Sheila to paint watercolor portraits of my guests throughout my wedding. She is an incredibly talented artist, who is also kind and a pleasure to work with. One of the highlights of my wedding night was seeing my guests come up to me, portrait in hand, with huge smiles on their faces. Many said they were looking forward to getting them framed. She also mailed my husband and I a portrait, since we didn't get a chance to get one during the craziness of the night. Having recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary, we can’t help but think about how grateful we are for having Sheila paint our first dance. Over the last year, we looked at our photo album and video footage once or twice but the same does not go for our painting. We have the pleasure of looking at our painting, hanging up on our bedroom wall EVERY single day. Sheila used her talent to beautifully capture one of the most special moments of our wedding night and turn it into a stunning piece of art. Not only is Sheila a pleasure to work with, she is extraordinarily talented. To this day, our wedding guests still talk about how incredible it was to see Sheila demonstrate her talent and create such beautiful art during the reception. I would recommend Sheila a millions times over! -

True talent and so much fun!
I hired Sheila to paint at my best friends wedding as a gift and it was nothing less of amazing! She not only created an beautiful painting, but her fun and enthusiastic style made the experience that much better! I truly cannot emphasize enough what a perfect addition Sheila was to the wedding as a whole, the bride loved it so much she cried, and the guests were absolutely blown away at Sheilas painting and upbeat personality. And to top it off- the painting was started and finished at the wedding, and it looked exactly like the couple! I will definitely be hiring Sheila again!Fine Artist and Live Event Painter's reply:

Sheila was incredible talented and passionate about her work. She met with us for a site visit to determine what scene we wanted to be painted. She arrived early to begin painting the background before the ceremony. The guests all commented on how enjoyable she was to talk with and watch create. At the end of the night, we had a completed masterpiece capturing our first dance. It’s become a treasured keepsake from our special day. Perfect fit
I knew I wanted to book a live painter as a surprise for my fiance. I wanted to have my fiance's father painted in to the photo as he had recently passed. I reached out to several in my area absolutely unsure of who I should chose. After weighing what I thought of their artwork/style and the costs they quoted, I landed on Sheila as my best bet. She was one of the most affordable quotes I received and her style ranged at the top of what I saw available. I was still nervous (all the wedding gitters!) and unsure of how it would all work.
Sheila nailed it.
My guests loved her.
I did not have a planner just an event coordinator and Sheila was able to arrive ,get set up, find the things she needed and handle all the day of details herself. She received very little direction from me and organized herself very well.
She took my request and gave me the most beautiful gift for my fiance.
Sheila produced some of the most memorable moments from my wedding and was very kind and professional to work with.
My family, guests, and friends on Facebook are still raving about the photo.
If you're considering a live painter, I'd pick Sheila again in a heartbeat.

Rusty Sent on 12/23/2017How lucky we are that Sheila Foley commemorated our daughter’s and son-in-law’s wedding. I had read an article in the Boston Globe newspaper (June 12, 2014) about her and was amazed to know that such a service existed! I looked her up, communicated via email, then we met and connected.
Sheila was a joy to be with before, during and after the wedding. My husband and I met her at her studio and got to see a few pieces in progress, as well as her finished art. We liked the concept and really liked Sheila. She was caring, thoughtful and a true professional. Her excitement mirrored ours.
It was easy to book her services and she had some suggestions which we liked and made part of the experience. Our guests were intrigued and were able to observe and chat with Sheila. She was unobtrusive yet still caught the splendor of the people and the event.
When we presented the painting to the newlyweds, we took a picture of their reactions. They reacted as we did: breathlessly surprised, delighted, amazed. It was a wonderful gift to them.

Everyone loved seeing the artwork come to life throughout the night. My husband and I absolutely love the painting. It is so neat that you can tell exactly who everyone is in the painting. Sheila included so many small details that help us remember all the little things about our wedding. Her work is beautiful. -

As my wedding gift my husband surprised me with hiring Sheila to paint our wedding. I knew nothing about it until I met her at our wedding reception! After talking to her, we decided to go with sketches rather than a painting, to fit the homemade feel of our wedding better. The sketches we received are beautiful and fit our style so well! They were presented beautifully and we cannot wait to frame them and display them in our home! We would recommend working with Sheila to anyone looking for a unique keepsake for their wedding! -

User2534481 Sent on 02/15/2016I would highly recommend Sheila to other couples interested in having a live painting of their wedding! And to couples who aren't interested in having a live painting of their wedding or haven't considered it - DO IT - it's hands down one of the best things we did for ours. We wanted interesting details at our wedding, and we also wanted to commemorate the day in a classic but unique way, and this was perfect on both counts. The guests thought it was the coolest thing that there was a live painter there and many people have been asking about the final product! Somehow, I don't know how, Sheila managed to identify and include all of our important family members and friends in the painting, without us prompting in any way. It's amazing to me, being completely unartistic, how you can totally tell who everybody is and how it captures the feel of the day! It is such a neat thing to have in our home and I know we will cherish it for years to come.
Sheila was great to work with, very responsive via email and flexible working with our wedding planner and our venue. On the day of, she was unobtrusive, tucked into a back corner, but also willing to talk to guests who had questions or who wanted to see what she was working on. It was the perfect little addition to the reception and it gave people something to talk about without being "showy". It worked out perfectly for us that she was located right behind the table with my grandparents, so they are prominently featured, making the painting even more special. The one thing to be aware of is that the finished product takes several months to complete (it's a piece of art after all!), so just know that going in. I have no regrets about using Sheila, and would do it again in a heartbeat!! I encourage all couples to use her at their wedding, it's worth every penny and then some. I'm trying to come up with other occasions in our life that would warrant a custom painting, just so we can work with her again!
