User2614181 Sent on 05/19/2016If you are thinking about catering, large or small, in the area of Middleburg, I highly recommend talking to Market Salamander.
Amy Monteleone, their Catering Sales and Operations Manager, was just great in helping us develop ideas, but also ensured the perfect execution of what we ordered. When you are organising a wedding, the last thing you need is stress on the catering front!
The quality of the food and it's presentation was commented positively on by all our guests. Normally, we rave about some dishes and are "meh" about others, particularly when you are trying to cater for a wide diversity of tastes and diets. However, every dish served up was really tasty.
We also had Jason Reaves, their Exec Pastry Chef make our wedding cake. Again, a really great job done.
Why not drop in to the Deli and get a taste for what is possible. -

Mckenna Sent on 02/28/2016All I can say is WOW. Our wedding cake was not only STUNNING, but it was DELICIOUS! I was referred to Market Salamander through my best friend Michelle Johnson, and my day of coordinator Felicia. I thought that I had a look in mind for my cake when we went in for the tasting - which was wonderful, but Jason had wonderful thoughts on cake design when we went and I found the perfect inspiration - My dress! I sent a picture of my dress and a cake with a similar design to Jason and that was that.
Prior to contracting with Market Salamander, I wanted to have my fiancé try the cakes. It was particularly difficult as he was stationed in Florida at the time. Since he missed the full tasting, I called the Salamander to see if they were able to make samples of the 3 flavors we had decided on that way he could try them on a last minute trip up to visit me. Not only were they able to make more samples for us, they were complimentary! (and he loved them!).
Fast forward to the wedding day! When i saw the cake it took my breath away. Jason's team did a fabulous job! It was also particularly special because my best friend and bridesmaid Michelle works with Jason's team and actually was the one who baked the cakes. even though she couldn't do the finishing touches due to being a bridesmaid it was still so special that she was still a part of the process for making our cake!
Jason, your cakes truly are works of art and I cant thank you enough for all of your hard work and effort that you put into hand piping the lace details on each tier of our cake! -
User2562976 Sent on 03/28/2016We worked with the pastry chef at Market Salamander, Jason Reaves, for our wedding cake. We ended up doing cupcakes for the guests and a 6 inch personal cake for us to cut into. We rented a cupcake tower from them as well, which made for a great display. Jason offers so many wonderful flavors, from light and fruity to chocolate indulgences. When we met with him for a tasting and design consult he was very polite and professional, but also very relaxed- You could tell he loves what he does. We heard so many compliments from guests on the cupcakes! And we were glad when we had leftovers that we got to take home at the end of the night so we could enjoy them a little longer. Overall, Jason did a wonderful job on our cakes and we give him our highest recommendation! -

From our first meeting, Jason and the team at Market Salamander were so thoughtful, kind, and professional. We had an amazing tasting with them - they even boxed up the additional cake so that we could take some home to my parents! The cake arrived on time, looked beautiful, and, again, tasted delicious. I cannot wait to eat the remaining cake in the coming days.

User2128625 Sent on 05/12/2015Jason, the head pastry chef, at Market Salamander and their cakes are amazing! Our venue recommended Market Salamander for our wedding cake. I called in October for an April wedding. Jason said it was early and people typically do the cake tasting 3-4 months in advance but was more than willing to discuss and he sent pricing. Pricing is very reasonable and totally worth it.
We went in January for the tasting. You select 3 you definitely want to try (out of a decently sized list). You can have up to 4 people for the tasting and it was about $35 for the tasting (to be applied to the cake if you go with them). In addition to the 3 you've chosen to taste, Jason brings a bunch more (I think 5 more). We were beyond thrilled that he brought other options-- at first we were sold with vanilla since everyone likes vanilla and it was light. Then we tasted the carrot cake (which I don't like carrot cake at all) but this was more spicy and light and AMAZING. We were sold. Also during the tasting, we looked at past designs and showed pictures of what we liked. We talked through what we wanted. A contract with details and amount was sent within a week. We signed and sent in 50% deposit.
A couple weeks before the wedding, we solidified the number of guests. Initially we want natural flowers on the cake, which wasn't a problem but then I wanted Market Salamander to do the sugar flowers. They modified the contract really quickly and were extremely responsive. I also gave them the weight of the cake topper so that they could plan if it was heavy.
Day of, I was so busy that I didn't even see Jason but the cake looked absolutely amazing. We got 3 tiers for 65 people with carrot on the top and bottom tier and vanilla in between. Everyone absolutely loved the way it looked and tasted. It was fantastic. We were able to save a few pieces and enjoy days after the wedding which was an added bonus. I can't wait to have it at the 1 year anniversary. -
User1787195 Sent on 08/30/2014I canot say enough about my wedding cake and grooms cake from Market Salamander. Jason is such a wonderful professional to work with. The cakes always look and taste beautiful. The wedding cake left me speechless. It was so beautiful it actually looked fake! It was also absolutely delicious! The grooms cake was also awesome! My husband could not stop talking about how amazing it looked! The guests were so impressed! The price of these cakes are ridiculously reasonable too! If there is one thing I am 100% satisfied with the day of my wedding, it is the purchase and execution of these cakes! I HIGHLY reccommend Jason for any baking needs, he is fantastic! -

We were a little nervous about the fee for the tasting, but it was worth it (it goes toward your purchase), and once you try Jason's cakes, you will definitely choose him!

From the flavors to the perfect decorations to tie in our theme, everything looked and tasted amazing. Jason even helped develop a new flavor u had special requested and it turned out delicious! -

Jason worked with me to find an idea for the cake that clicked. When I suggested using our invitation as a guide, he rolled with it and created an absolutely beautiful design. We received many compliments and it looked wonderful in the detail shots taken at the reception. Thank you Jason!

(and not just because it was our wedding cake) He was a pleasure to work with, quick to respond, flexible and patient on design, and extremely nice and helpful. Our guests could not stop talking about our cake. It came out even better than we hoped! It was almost sad to cut into it, it was so beautiful to look at! We ordered a 30-serving three tiered cake with fondant and custom topper; for the custom design, taste, and experience, it was definitely money worth spent. I would recommend Jason again and again, especially if you want that special detail that will leave you with lasting memories.
