    Riverside room - the best!

    The Riverside Room at MEC was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for our special day! The space is so classy, elegant, premium, and beautiful! If you like a warehouse type feel, high ceilings, wood, exposed pipe and beams, this space is for you! We worked closely with Ashley Nelson throughout our planning process. Ashley is an absolute sweetheart. She made us feel so at ease, we trusted her in every aspect, and she even provided us with game changing ideas (indoor sparklers for our grand entrance for example) that helped make our day so unforgettable. The MEC Staff is also top notch, so many times at weddings you will experience a line at the bar, plates clinking during speeches, etc. Not at MEC...Everyone at MEC strives to make your day as special and as worry free as possible. Again, major shout out to Ashley Nelson for her assistance with our special day. We will forever be grateful for Ashley, and the rest of MEC's crew for making our day the BEST EVER!!! Choose the Riverside room at MEC for your Wedding, you will not regret it!

    Loved working with MEC for our big day! They were super helpful and responsive and did most of the leg work for us (catering, set up, etc)! They also had some great recommendations for other vendors they have worked with and everything worked out perfectly! They made our day a dream come true!

    We loved the look of Minneapolis Event Center from the start but knew it was the venue for us when we realized they did EVERYTHING. From the initial planning meeting to the end of the wedding reception, they took care of every single detail...making us a custom monogram, ordering pizza at the end of the night, gathering all of our decor and placing it by the door for someone to pick up at the end of the night, helping load gifts into a car. They were fantastic. The servers, bartenders, and security personnel were incredibly competent and kind. The food was amazing. And the space itself is beautiful -- rustic elegant. It was the perfect venue for the perfect night.

    Kerry and everyone at Minneapolis Event Center made my wedding an absolute success. They are all so kind, friendly, professional and great at their jobs. My husband and I could not have been happier. You also can not go wrong with their preferred vendors.

    We loved our experience working with Minneapolis Events Centers for our wedding. The team was very friendly and professional, and were happy to accommodate our special requests. The venue was beautiful, and the food was outstanding - way above my expectations considering the super convenience of having it all done in the one place. We planned our event pretty quickly, and the staff was great with suggesting options, and getting the kind of event we wanted to have and the experience we wanted for our guests. They worked well with outside vendors for music and desserts and our "Day Of" Coordinator. The ceremony outdoors in the lovely courtyard area and the elegant reception inside just a few steps away were perfect for us. The close proximity to the river for photographs was a special treat as well - everything we wanted in one easy, convenient, and beautiful setting. Thank you Minneapolis Event Centers for helping make our day so special!

    The MEC is a gorgeous venue in Minneapolis. We got married there in October 2015 and from the beginning they were great to work with. Kerry, our coordinator, was super flexible and easy going. She did an awesome job answering my billion questions!
    They executed the wedding and reception just how we imagined. The food was wonderful, the staff was great, and they were all ready to jump if I had a request. They did a great job!!

    Many people quip that your wedding should be the "Best Night of Your Life," and why shouldn't it be? But making it all you dream of, ensuring everything goes off without a hitch...well thats either something you're going to worry yourself with or something you have to entrust to someone else. We chose to entrust our vision to MEC and all the way up from the waitstaff, to the day of coordinator and our event planner they executed something larger than the sum of the parts we'd envisioned.

    I feel like I should briefly explain why I can't give them perfect marks across the board. We found out the day of that the event planner we had worked with leading up to the day of the wedding would no longer be there to act as coordinator. I think this caused a few things we had talked about leading up to the wedding to stumble a bit, but the small hiccups were immediately corrected by our day of coordinator (Paige) who was an absolute rockstar! In the grand scheme of what we asked of the MEC staff and venue, these items were so minor it almost felt silly to mention them.

    Here is just some of what MEC did that made our wedding the best night of our lives:
    - They pivoted fast on unusually hot and muggy weather and moved the ceremony inside to a beautiful and brand new space they had just opened.
    - They worked incredibly well with our Florist/Decorator and the props we had brought in to make their already good looking space look stunning.
    - They executed our admittedly odd "ethnic street-foods" dinner idea. The Korean Tacos, Chicken Tikka and Veggie Pad Thai stations were all HUGE hits.
    - They let us create the event we wanted by allowing us to bring in desserts from the best local bakeries, use a food truck for late night snacks and order us kegs from some of our favorite local (and San Diego) breweries.

    This is just a snippet of our perfect evening that we'll never forget, and MEC deserves endless credit for ensuring we enjoyed it all without an inkling of stress.

    I didn't give a full five stars because when I asked about taking home the left over food I paid for I was told I couldn't! After going through the buffet line a second time I realized there was a lot of food left so I asked what happens to the food and was told the staff eats it. It never occurred to me to ask before the wedding since you have to provide the number of guests there shouldn't have been that much food leftover. The staff should have eaten after my guests were done and then anything left after that boxed up for me. If it hadn't been my wedding I would have pursued the situation after all I paid! But since it was my reception I didn't want to spend my time or energy busting heads.

    I felt that the overall feel of the venue was great except for the location to me was not what I thought that it would be from looking at the pics.

    I did have to give lower marks on responsiveness and professionalism because the event coordinator we were initially assigned was horrible at responding to emails and answering questions, and frankly did not have her act together. She left the venue very shortly before our wedding, and the woman who took over was fabulous, however I did feel that a few things communicated to the original coordinator were lost in the process or had to be readdressed, and there were certain costs that she did not adequately or accurately explain to us.

    That said, our wedding day went off very smoothly and we were incredibly happy! The venue space is GORGEOUS, the food was fabulous (our guests raved about how great everything was), and although the bar was pricey we were able to get whatever kegs we wanted and they did a good job of fairly accurately estimating the costs in advance. The waitstaff and concierge are all delightful and friendly.

    Beautiful venue but hard to work with

    We were very torn on how many stars to give MEC. While The View is a beautiful location for a wedding and our wedding turned out great, it was a bit hard to work with MEC. We didn’t have one point if contact so it was hard to get clear answers and we were often asked the same questions multiple times by different employees. Every invoice we got had errors and had to be approved by the CEO so things moved slowly. Day of the wedding a few things like late night snacks got miss-placed but our guests did rave about how great the venue is and how good the food was. Like most wedding venues you can expect alcohol to be the biggest expensive and that there are charges for every little thing. Beautiful venue but make sure you know what you are going into.

    Beautiful venue, extremely difficult to work with

    Our wedding was gorgeous and the people who work there seem very dedicated to their jobs but the entire planning experience with them was discouraging and chaotic. A few examples
    -they only offer food tastings a few times a year, so they give months advance notice. They gave us a tasting date and we cleared our calendars for it. They canceled it two weeks before the tasting and when they rescheduled it, we asked if there were any other options because we will be out of the country on the new date. They told us there was nothing they could do and we would just have to pick our food without ever trying it because there would definitely not be any other tastings. Then a month later they added another tasting.
    -every person we met with had different answers to the same questions. And you have no choice but to meet with a different person each time. It was near impossible to make wedding decisions because it felt like every time we did, they changed the rules. One small example is on our original tour with the owner she told us we could bring Starbucks in the morning to the getting ready suites, and later they told us we’d be fined $500 if we did that and if we wanted coffee on site we could pay $200 for them to set up a coffee bar.
    -they warn you prices are subject to change but be prepared for the prices to be different on every single hand out you’re given.
    -if you want to DIY things this is not the venue for you. They specifically told us they’re moving away from allowing DIY things, and if you want to bring pretty much any decor other than an easel and set it up yourself it has to be pre-approved by them which takes weeks (something they didn’t tell us until 1 month before the wedding).

    Multiple other vendors we worked with warned us that this venue is notoriously difficult to work with and even gave us advice on how to handle it. Although all of this happened in the planning stages, the actual wedding was wonderful and the food and bar service was incredible. But working with them ahead of time was nothing but a headache.
