We loved having our wedding at Motor City!

My wife (to-be at the time) and I had a wonderful experience with Motor City Casino Hotel, starting with meeting Jennifer. She was our main contact and guide through the planning process. After having visited other venues and having conversations with lots of coordinators/managers there was a noticeable difference in how she communicated with us and how helpful she was with giving us an understanding of everything that had to be accounted for in the planning.

And we simply fell in love with the Amnesia venue. For those of you who don't know it, it's on the 16th floor of the hotel, which is the same floor as their flagship restaurant, Iridescence. It used to be a night club, so it's multi-level, has a dance floor, professional lighting and a killer sound system built in. The perfect place for a party! Our DJ only had to "plug in" and didn't need to bring lights or speakers.

They can set the lights there to any color you want during dinner as well. Our wedding accent colors were purple and silver, so we had a purple hue when people came in for cocktail hour, and throughout dinner. They offer basic linens/chairs/place settings. We opted to use an outside service to add some chair covers and table overlays, and we did the centerpieces ourselves, though I do believe MCC offers candle holders (which we didn’t use) and mirrors for underneath the centerpiece (which we did use). They made it easy to coordinate with other vendors. That’s a huge plus.

We chose a package where they provided the reception space for 6 hours. They served hors d'oeuvres at a cocktail hour, served dinner and cake with a champagne toast. Coffee after dinner. The package came with bar time but we opted to pay for extra time--which is a nice option to have. We also added late night snacks which everyone loved. Jennifer helped us determine the right amount. I would have opted for more food, but she turned out to be right on with her estimate.

There was ample room at the venue for our photo booth and it didn't intrude upon the dinner/dance/balcony space at all.

Our ceremony (prior to reception) was brief and held in one of the MCC ballrooms. We opted for modest décor, but you have the freedom to hire vendors to fix it up any way you like.

What I can't emphasize enough is how much Jennifer helped us with planning the ceremony and reception. I think we would have been lost without her. She kept us on track, coordinated and helped us through rehearsal, and even stayed the day of the event until we were at the dinner hour. Oh, and probably the most fun part of the planning was the tasting! You get to sample the hors d'oeuvres, salads, entrees, breads, and cakes! Yes, they make your cake. You can let the chef know what kind of design you want and he makes it come to life! Our cake was beautiful and delicious!

Our wedding was not huge, 75 people, and I feel like the venue was plenty roomy for that size. Probably could've fit more.

Again, we had our reception at Amnesia. You should definitely get a tour of it if you're considering MCC. The view is to die for—especially at night! With that and the lighting options, you don't need to add much decor. We will always love the memory of that night and we vow to someday have a celebration there again!

    Everything I hoped for!

Jennifer and the team at Motorcity are top notch! So very easy to work with, very responsive to any questions or needs. The wedding package offered is quite inclusive, which took so much stress away. We did not have to look for or organize multiple vendors on our big day. Wedding food is not something I ever looked forward to, but the Chef and team prepared meals that our guests are still raving about! They even include your cake, and will design it however you want it. It was perfect, and the best cake I’ve ever had in my life. The view of the city is gorgeous, and unlike any other venue I’ve ever seen. It was just perfect.

From the viewing of the rooms, the tasting, the rehearsal, our ceremony AND reception... I can’t thank them enough. We came back to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and were still treated as if it was our wedding day. I keep pushing my friends to pick this venue, because I so desperately want to be a guest here! I miss it so much! Do yourself a favor and call Jennifer. You will not regret it!

The Soundboard inside Motor City is a reception venue for the couple that wants to be different without trying too hard. The food is great and the service is top notch! The room rental is high, but was totally worth every penny!

a first class operation top to bottom. impecable service. a lot of bang for your buck. every single detail was accounted for and the wedding went even better than expected. an incredible venue to have a wedding, with all sorts of little extras that will have people talking about your wedding forever. your own personal lighting show, a grande entrance where you raise up to a stage from the basement. it was incredible!

We were married in their presidential suite on the opening weekend of the hotel. The setting was gorgeous and thehotel went to a lot of trouble to make sure everything was perfect. The reception dinner and dancing was set up in a suite directly across the hall. Michael, the banquet manager was fantastic. The food was delicious and plentiful. The hotel made a cake based on a picture we gave them and it was very tasty and looked just like the picture. Irene was very helpful wth the planning, especially since I had to do everything long distance.

Kristen is amazing and our experience was wonderful

We had our wedding reception in the Amnesia room.
For the hotel, our guests were able to check in most times before the check in time which made things easier. Some errors in the wedding room block bookings but the hotel was able to accommodate the changes with ease. The staff was very friendly and rooms were very clean.
Such a great experience overall! We were very excited for the unique wedding reception location on the 16th floor of MotorCity. The space was remarkable with the upstairs area being a great location for cocktail hour. Breathtaking view! We opted for the sushi bar that was absolutely stunning and the guests loved the appetizers. The chef/pastry chef was able to accomodate our entree feedback with dietary restrictions perfectly. The food on the day of was exactly what we envisioned. Our wedding party suite was in the event space right next to the Amnesia room and was filled with alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and appetizers. The event staff were so friendly and made the experience smooth. The whole process of booking and coordinating was made very easy with the help of Kristen. She was so accommodating and listened to all of our requests. Made the day of the event so stress free and was able to navigate any last minute changes with no questions asked! She was extremely kind/generous to us and all of the wedding party. Happy to help in any way she could to make our day unforgettable. Thank you Kristen! Highly recommend the location and worth every penny.

Great hotel for large destination wedding

My husband and I live in DC and all of our 160 guests lived at least an hour outside of Detroit. Given those logistics the MotorCity was a perfect choice. While the rooms were farther apart than I had hoped, they were beautiful and Julie was absolutely wonderful to work with. My Mother-In-Law planned our rehearsal dinner, which was orchestrated without a hitch and had fantastic food and drinks. The hotel is massive and, because of it's size, could have been more well marked with shuttle/ride share pick up and rehearsal dinner locations. That said, the front desk staff were very helpful in giving detailed, verbal directions for guests. Overall highly recommend if you've got a lot of guests traveling and looking a ready-made after party at the casino!

For the most part, I was very pleased with this hotel. We stayed here on our wedding night, but that is the only thing I would use it for. I would not use it for the hotel for guests.

My husband and I are very layed back people but we had to wait for a LONG time for room service to come up. If our guests had to wait that long, I'm sure SOMEONE would have complained.

But other than that, the service was great. Everyone was friendly and the place was VERY clean and very chic. Just what I was looking for on a wedding night. We even got upgraded to a massive suite that had another room, a huge bathtub/shower and it's own kitchen. I will absolutley come back.

Motor City is a gorgeous hotel. Everything is updated and modern. All my guests raved about how nice the rooms were. The premier suite we stayed in was one of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. It was HUGE and had every thing for the perfect 2 day home away from home. Unfortunately – their service needs A LOT of work. We had a ton of problems while we were there. I had to check in twice the day before the wedding because I requested an early check-in so I arrived at 2 – I was told it would be ready in a half hour but when I arrived at 4:30 (1.5 hours after check-in time) – it STILL wasn’t ready and they lost my initial reservation – so they upgraded us to a premier suite – however – I was 30 minutes late for our rehearsal (and pissy) because of it. We had gift bags taken to all of our guests.. but our guests also received and invitation to another couple’s wedding and brunch tickets for their Sunday brunch. One of my out-of-town guests ended up at the other venue because of it. Needless to say – it caused A LOT of confusion. They were supposed to clean our room while we were at the wedding – they didn’t and when we returned I had to request towels at 3 am because my bridesmaids and I had used most of them getting ready earlier in the day. The day of check out they sent an incorrect bill with extra rooms on it. So – there were just so many annoying little issues that made the stay pretty exhausting. I filled out a survey at their request and at least 3 managers have contacted me to remind me (as if I can’t recall) that we were upgraded. However, most of the craziness happened AFTER we were upgraded. tsk tsk – Note to managers: never ask guests for feedback and then make excuses for poor service. One bride to another – steer clear!
