I loved my Officiant! I am Catholic and my Husband is Agnostic, so I knew right away the Catholic church was out of the question. We agreed that we wanted to have a nice civil ceremony, but with Religious notes. Rev. Morehouse was the perfect pick! We met with him in his office and my husband and I both spoke about our families and asked for how we could incorporate religious traditions without offending anyone. Rev. Morehouse gave us a sample of one of his ceremonies that he used and it was just what we were looking for! Plus the ceremony wasn't a long winded ceremony. About 30 minutes tops so that the guests were antsy in their chairs! We couldn't ask for anyone better!

Amazing location overlooking the Southbay! They are very welcoming no need to be Unitarian to use venue. Eveyone there went beyond their duties before and after the wedding day. Its ideal for an outdoor ceremony, but has a nice space for indoor weddings as well. Had the reception there too, has a great kitchen. Use of the bride room and grooms room were great, there's a playground to keep the little ones entertained.

At night, everything is dark and you get an amazing view of the city.

First, disclosure: My family has been members of this church since before I was born, so I was brought up in this congregation. As such, I did not pay to rent the site for the ceremony or reception.

That being said, PUC is a lovely blank slate. Lovely in that it has been recently updated with fresh flooring and paint and has a nice shaded patio and beautiful views of the South Bay and the ocean. A blank slate in that most anything can be done to it: the colors are neutral, the floor is wide open, the walls are bare. The church has a full kitchen, guest bathrooms, and a bride's room with couches, mirrors, and a bathroom of its own.

Lynn, the day-of wedding coordinator is one of the most efficient people I've met. She knows exactly what questions to ask beforehand in order to set up the church and its grounds exactly as you want them, she runs the rehearsal quickly, and she is everywhere you need her to be on the big day. Her planning and assistance was well worth her $300 fee.

Reverend John, the lead minister at PUC, is very warm and has a charming sense of humor. He has a basic outline for a wedding ceremony which he has drawn from long experience performing such ceremonies. He is open to adding or subtracting from that service as the bride and groom want and he can also add in traditions from many faith backgrounds. Again, he was well worth his $350 fee.

The church is in flux right now, with volunteers manning the office and Reverend John preparing to move to a new appointment on the East Coast. As such, I occasionally had to call or email more than one person to make a request or get a question answered, since the first person I spoke to didn't necessarily have the answers I needed. I didn't find this to be particularly stressful. All my concerns were addressed in a timely fashion.

I chose this location strictly for reception services since it was close to our ceremony locaiton, The Neighborhood Church. They are not as fancy as the Neighborhood Church, but they are a secluded single wedding location with a gorgeous hilltop view overlooking the South Bay area. The service of the staff was fantastic. Everyone is on top of the details there, very responsive and I had no issues even when choosing to do the longest reception I possibly could at that location - 7 hours!

One thing to consider is that this location is in a residential area so receptions cannot go past 10pm and if you choose to play music outside, then you can't be blaring the stereo system. We had no issues since we did the main reception indoors, but it is something to consider. Also, they are not necessarily the cheapest in the area, but one of the best values. As long as you do a standard length of time (not a 7 hour reception!) then the venue pricing should be completely reasonable. Keep in mind this is just a venue, no catering is included in the cost, however they do have tables and chairs (a couple options) available to you with the venue.

The only complaint I had the day of was that it happened to be the hottest day of the summer, and as it is that indoor location being all windows takes in a lot of sunlight. Even with the air conditioning on full blast we were sweltering indoors. Something needs to be done about that because no one wants uncomfortable guests.

This is for a wedding ceremony, so keep that in mind.

Venue - GREAT as a blank space. The view is phenomenal, it has parking in a lot and on the street, but it can really be spiced up to your liking.

Coordinator - Lynn is sweet, but we ran into several issues. Namely, having a church event schedule when our rehearsal should have been, forcing us to push it later. However she was graceful enough to refund part of her fee due to that, and I doubt it would happen again. Also, there was some issue with having an event for the church after our wedding, but it never appeared. So all in all, it was okay. She was also accommodating when we needed to tour the venue. Also helped handle the vendors the day of.

Officiant - Kim was new the church, but great. She spoke with us and helped develop a homily which told our story, and accommodating our requests for certain parts of the ceremony. Combining Christianity and Judaism with a more spiritual rather than religious focus isn't easy, but she handled it very well.

Overall, a great location, but if you're not clear about what you want to the wedding coordinator, things won't go as smoothly as they can.
