    Wedding Stay at The Waterford

    Along with out guests, we loved our stay at The Waterford.
    Our wedding venue referred them as a great place for a wedding block.

    Ashley, in event planning, and her team were great in every aspect - communication, organization, responsiveness, and professionalism. The hotel staff was just as excellent during our stay.

    If you're looking for a place to stay, we highly recommend The Waterford.

    Ashley was amazing!

    Ashley was truly amazing and made accommodation arrangements and changes up to the very last day for us! Use her if you plan on booking at this hotel!

    Ashley Wilkerson at renaissance Waterford hotel

    Ashley did an amazing job from start to finish. She worked diligently with all of our requests and timelines and everything went off without a hitch. The venue was beautiful and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend her and the Renaissance Waterford hotel as an excellent place to accommodate all of your party and event needs.     Great Team!

    Ashley and the team at The Waterford were absolutely fantastic. We had to change our venue three times because of COVID and ultimately ended up at The Waterford. They were so accommodating and wonderful to work with!
    It is asking me for pricing information - so I would like to mention we had two buffet menu choices, "open" bar that included beer, wine, and two liquor drinks, tables, chairs, linens, and two suites.

    Helpful and responsive

    This is the second wedding event we've had at the Waterford and the team is always great to work with....extremely helpful and responsive - they do all try to make your day special. I do wish they still had the same chef they had in 2019 bc he was phenomenal!

    Beautiful hotel with a wonderful staff

    We used the Marriott Waterford for our room block for my daughter's wedding. Alicia was great to work with, she gave us a tour and was very responsive and easy to work with, even helping someone to reserve after the deadline. The hotel is beautiful and accommodating, my family took over the lobby on Saturday and played games and watched football and everyone was very nice to them. We had 25 rooms and everyone got their welcome box when they checked in. We had a large group in the bar on Friday and Saturday nights and the bartender did a great job. I appreciated that we did not have to guarantee payment on any rooms that we didn't use, they just went back to the hotel after the deadline. I would definitely recommend the Waterford.

    The Waterford was wonderful to work with. Julie responded so quickly and made the wedding room rates so easy to book. I loved working with them.

    We hosted our wedding reception at the Waterford OKC in August. Candice and her team did an amazing job making sure our night went smoothly. I didn't have a wedding planner so I was worried about staying on our timeline, but everything was executed flawlessly by her and our DJ. Candice was helpful throughout the planning process explaining how everything would go. The day of she and her team stepped it into high gear to help us finish name tags and decorations for the room. We had quite a few guest change their order the night of and the team handled it professionally and ended up serving our guests their preferences. We had an amazing time celebrating here and we are grateful we chose the Waterford for our wedding reception! I would highly recommend this venue for couples looking to have a wedding in OKC!

    We actually used the Marriott on NW Expressway, but they are not listed on this site yet...

    We had two different contacts, however that was an early change and our final contact was incredible. Every decision that needed to be made was effortless, and any information that we needed was immediately provided. The only issue that we had was the change in salesperson--and we ended up so very, very happy with the change!!

    The ballroom decorations were exquisite and all of the staff at the hotel (working our event and not) were professional, friendly and quick to act. We were unable to eat at the reception and were pleasantly surprised to find that the staff had made up a goody bag of everything at the reception and put it in our room for us!!

    I loved having my reception here. There were a few hiccups along the way, but what place is perfect? I had 4 different contacts throughout the process, but each one was very helpful and apologetic for having a new planner. Each one had no problem meeting the promises the person before them had met. The food was wonderful, the service was wonderful, and the venue was gorgeous. I loved every minute.

    Beautiful wedding reception venue

    We held our wedding reception at the Renaissance Waterford Hotel Ballroom in June 2021 and was happy we selected this beautiful venue. We worked closely with Ashley at the hotel who is a certified wedding planner as well as the executive meetings manager at Waterford and she made the whole process easy for us. We were very pleased with their quick responses to all our emails and questions, flexibility, professionalism, and guidance throughout the wedding planning months. A big thank you to Ashley and the hotel staff for making our wedding day perfect!

    Nice venue

    I like the set-up of the venue. The food that we tried was good. The room that we stayed was good as well. However, due to circumstances, they were not able to have the second person as a coordinator, and our coordinator was sick on the wedding day, which was a hassel to us since no one knew when to serve the food. The food came out cold and we missed the lemonade drink. The venue was able to refund some of the credits back to us, which was nice.

    Although everything turned out fine on the day of the wedding. I worked with 4 different event planners and they went through 3 different chefs from the time I booked the reception to the day of the event. I was worried and stressed out because of the inconsistency and things were unsettled up to the night before. The communication between the event planner and the hotel's management was lacking. I strongly reccomend all communication in writing after my experience with this hotel.

    Steer clear

    Until the Waterford has a new events mgr, avoid it! What happened to us should never happen to anyone. While the venue is nice and the GM & chef are very good, the rest was a nightmare. 17 days before the reception for 200+, the events mgs tried to change the meal from plated to buffet. (The contract was signed 6 mos before & the contract min paid 5 before) She called the bride-to-be and put her in tears on her way to her final gown fitting. Going through Marriott we were able to speak to the GM who straightened this out. Unfortunately she couldn't fix the events mgr's incompetence. Nothing the hotel said it would set out (signage, menu cards, throws etc) was except for the cards with a photo of the Bride & Groom for each setting- and plates of fruit were set on top of these. Zero slices of the Groom's cake were cut or served. Even though it was displayed, guests were told there wasn't chocolate. Before the contract was signed the hotel said it had mirror tiles to set on the tables & gave the size and shape. She never said there aren't enough for all the tables, and abut a third of those were chipped or had broken corners. All were dirty. There was a diagram for the layout but it was ignored- 2 guest tables short, no gift table, no space for the band, no coverings on the menu & activities table, etc. 19 of us worked for 2 hrs after the rehearsal dinner doing the hotel's work- finding tables, moving others, draping some, cleaning tiles, setting out the personalized napkins & other items, finding doorstops so rented chairs weren't pushed into the drapes, cleaning mirror tiles, etc., and all of us had to be back at the church at 7:00 AM to get ready for photos and a morning wedding. The events mgr asked for & was given a timeline that also was ignored. One server yelled at me when I told him to wait till Grace was said to start serving brunch. There was musak piped into the venue; 4 different people asked 6 times to shut it off, but no one at the hotel seemed to know how, so the live music had to play over the musak. The final course was on the timeline too but was served both early and incorrectly. Severs were rude to some guests & overall gloomy. At least one guest had dead flies in his drink. The florist said she had to flip tablecloths before setting the centerpieces. At the reception we found here isn't enough matching stainless to set >200 places. A substituted appetizer was served, unknow to us. No personalized napkins were used with cocktails. 17 chargers were missing when the rental co. picked up.
    There are no excuses for service this poor. At 23% service charge on all food & beverage it's unconscionable. We made 2-3 times the number of walk throughs as should have been necessary & everything was in writing too- made no difference. What can't be weighed is the work & unnecessary stress the Waterford's incompetence caused. In the end love triumphed and the Newlyweds carried their reception, along with well chosen & fun activities for their guests. But no one should experience anything like this. Until significant changes are made, the Waterford can't do wedding receptions.

    Waterford - do not select this vendor

    The Waterford fell way short on our wedding reception. First, we were delayed access to the reception area a couple of hours because the Waterford rented out that space beforehand, without notification to us until the week before the wedding. It was booked for a luncheon and our daughters wedding was at 2pm!  This caused the planner to be late to the Church and, in turn, caused time crunch there. We had to apply “wedding day triage” at the church, even the photographer was having to stand in for the planner which kept her from taking all the pictures we had planned.  Another shortfall, was the layout of the food line that caused guest back-ups as guests queued up for their food. The Waterford staff should have advised on a better set-up because they knew how that set-up would have problems. When questioned about it, The Waterford’s management response is a disappointing "you got what you ordered" and “your wedding planner should have known.” This is a completely unprofessional response, how were we to know this was going to happen, we are the customer, it is not our job to know these details, this is why we pay the bill.  We also ran out of wedding cake as the event staff cut the pieces too big. 2.5 inch pieces instead of the standard of 1 inch.  Therefore, many of the guest did not get wedding cake which is one of the highlights of going to a wedding reception for your loved ones.
    All in all, wedding planners and families should not expect The Waterford event staff to proactively make your event the best ever. They took our order and left it to the wedding party to deal with problems that should never have cropped up.  Finally, post wedding reception we had to deal with a sales manager who was extremely unprofessional and rude.  She confirmed she had to “perform the “interrogation” and then the results were confirmed to us and when we questioned or confirmed that was not correct she would always respond “That is not what I wrote down”.  She even did this to my daughter while she was on her honeymoon and my daughter called her back to correct her details and her response was “That is not what I wrote down”. 
    We did not expect any of this when we signed up to have our wedding reception at the Waterford, my advice is to not select this venue for your reception.
