When I was in search of a wedding cake vendor I knew it needed to be someone that not only made delicious cake, but also had an eye for perfection! I stressed a lot when it came to all the "little details" for our wedding, but I rested assure that Patty would do an awesome job - and she did! I provided her with a wedding cake photo for some "inspiration" and it came out even better than the photo! She was so easy to work with and made you feel so comfortable discussing details. Her flavors were also so unique compared to your normal cake vendors. Although I didn't get to taste any of her delicious treats at the wedding (wedding cake, groom's cake and white chocolate butter toffee....mmmmm), except the piece that was smashed in my face during cake cutting, I know they were delicious! Guests kept coming up to me the whole night asking who made the cake?! I have and will continue to recommend Patty to everyone I know! When I first started the wedding planning process, the wedding cake was the last thing on my mind. All I was interested in was marking it off my to-do list. But then to my dismay, my husband refused to go with the first bakery we tried. He told his friends that he was in charge of the cake so it needed to be a damn good one. His reputation was on the line and he was unwilling to get a cake that tasted like it came from the grocery store! Luckily soon after I stopped wanting to wring his neck, my florist recommended that I check out Patty at Sweet P Sweets. We were instantly impressed! Not only was she extremely nice and easy to work with, her cakes were delicious!! After loving everything we tasted, we decided to go with the White Russian cake with Tiramisu filling, which of course was covered with white chocolate. No nasty fondant here! Now that my husband got his yummy cake, I got to have some unforeseen fun of working with Patty to design the cake. I gave Patty a picture of a sample cake I liked, a picture of detail on my wedding dress and some dried lavender from my center pieces and in turn Patty made a BEAUTIFUL cake that became one of my favorite aspects of the wedding! Patty is so professional and talented. We ordered a wedding cake for our December ceremony. I had an idea of what I wanted the cake to look like, and from just a photo, she created a masterpiece. We met for a cake tasting in the early fall, and there were so many delicious choices that we ended up picking three tiers of different flavors. My personal favorite was the red velvet, but people definitely raved about the chocolate layer with strawberry cream. The cake turned out spectacularly. It looked exactly like the professional picture, and she even added a few extra special touches per our request.
Patty took it upon herself to be in contact with our reception vendor personally, ensuring time, location, and all other details. This was definitely a great relief to us, as it seemed like every other detail coming up to the wedding we had to check and recheck. I remember telling my (then) fiance that ordering a cake from Patty was one of the best decisions for our entire wedding.

I recently ordered a very special Birthday cake from Patty for my friend's 21st birthday. What made the order difficult is that I live in Key West and my friend in Wheaton, Il.
Patty responded very quickly to my request built a wonderful cake to my exact specifications. My friend was surprised and very excited when the cake was delivered to her door.
I was very pleasd with the level of service Patty provided and the follow up service when my friend's mother called asking for instructions on how to preserve some of the cake until a later date.

Patty made an extra special surprise grooms cake for my husband who is an ironworker. She was very responsive throughout the whole process. She even sent me a sketch on what she was envisioning (a skyscraper skyline w/an ironworker sitting on a beam). The day of, my husband was shocked at how awesome it looked and showed it off to his fellow ironworkers at the wedding. I was impressed with how detailed and large the cake was! The next day, at a sunday brunch, we cut open the cake and it was delicious!!! It caught everyone by surprise that not only did it look awesome but it also tasted heavenly (carrot cake)! I did plenty of shopping around before deciding on Sweet P and it seemed that Patty was the most accessible in terms of her enthusiasm and competitive pricing. Through your research, you will find that there are many types of bakeries etc. in terms of quality and price. It was really important to me to have a quality piece of edible art and not a plain old cake. Patty Asken did an exceptional job. We had two cakes; one wedding cake that was white with black floral appliques and a groom's cake that looked like a deep dish pizza. Both were awesome. The wedding cake was chocolate with a chocolate ganache filling. The guests all raved about how moist and good it was. The pizza cake was so realistic that the reception hall personnel thought that someone had ordered a pizza and left it on the cake table by mistake. It was a white cake and it, too, was moist and very tasty.
I didn't make many changes after the initial order. We did have to change the pizza toppings within the last week and that was not a problem.
Patty fulfilled her contract perfectly. Her costs were realistic and within a normal range.

Patty Asken is the owner and cake creator at Sweet P Sweets, Inc. She is absolutely amazing!!! For my wedding this past March, 2009, I sent her a picture of my "dream" cake from Martha Stewart's Magazine. She understood exactly what I was looking for and was able to make a cake that was as beautiful, if not more beautiful than the one in the picture I had sent her. As if that wasn't enough to make my day, she also created a groomsman's cake that became the hit of my reception. The cake looked exactly like a Lou Malnati's deep dish pepperoni pizza - which happens to be my new husbands favorite. It looked so real that everyone assumed we were feeding them pizza during the cocktail hour! Patty even created a Lou Malnati's pizza box to place the cake in...It was awesome! Sweet P Sweets created my wedding cake and I give them 5 stars across the board! From our initial contact and through the taste sampling and design session, Patty Asken was a delight to work with. She provided cake, icing, and filling samples and patiently explained which type of coating (fondant vs. white chocolate, etc.) would work best with what I wanted.
When Patty promptly delivered the cake to the hall the afternoon of my reception, there were oohs and aahs from my setup team and when my reception was in full swing later on, my cake was such a huge hit that it was photographed almost as much as I was!
And if having a unique work of culinary art adorn my reception wasn't enough, the cake itself was so delicious that my guests went back for seconds and thirds. The top layer was white cake with raspberry filling, and the middle and bottom layer were chocolate and yellow with cream filling, modeled after my beloved Twinkies and Suzy-Q's! There wasn't a slice of cake left over by the end of the evening and my guests still rave about it.
I can't recommend Sweet P Sweets and Patty Asken enough. Patty made a gorgeous, delicious cake for our wedding. We just ordered a 6 inch tier for cutting, since we were having cupcakes, but she enthusiastically went all out to make a gorgeous cake that reflected our Spanish theme - it really was beautiful. And it tasted so good! I regret being too full to eat much of it at the wedding...luckily we have the remainder frozen and waiting for us. :) She was a pleasure to work with - both fun and upbeat about making something for us that we would love, which I really appreciated.
