We had our ceremony and reception at Terranea Resort and it was truly a fairy-tale wedding. From the planning stages to the ceremony itself, everything was perfect - and we want to thank Terranea Resort and their incredible team for help turning our dream into reality. We'd like to thank Tori, Terri, Robert and Alfredo for going above and beyond in making every little detail of our stay memorable. Tori, our catering manager, was on top of everything from day 1. She was prompt in her responses to all of our questions, and you could tell she really cared about our big day and the success of the event. At the end of the day, we couldn't be happier that we chose Terranea as our wedding venue. If you're planning on having an upscale type of wedding anywhere in Los Angeles, you really should consider Terranea as a first choice. -

I know it's on the pricier side but it is one of the most spectacular places. We were so happy we chose this location. The night before our wedding it rained heavily. It even rained the morning of. My dream was to have our ceremony on the cliff overlooking the ocean, one of the reasons we picked this venue. We were worried we would have to move it inside but the staff was amazing and got the area cleaned up and dry by the time our 5:00pm wedding started. We were so thankful they made our dream come true. From the planning to the actual wedding Terranea provided first class service. -

User1933133 Sent on 11/20/2014We searched high and low for the perfect venue for our destination wedding, and Terranea was everything we were looking for. The event and catering staff that I worked with were tirelessly attentive to my questions and emails, and were very accommodating to help us achieve our vision for the day. Jennifer and Lindsey were so wonderful to work with, and from long distance! Terranea itself is breathtaking....the staff are remarkable - they really made me feel special as a bride. The valets even knew I was getting married there in a few days and remarked things like "almost your wedding day!" every time I saw them. It's a pretty pricey place, but the room block rates made it more affordable for my guests, who had a wonderful few days of spoiling themselves in paradise. My only complaint is that my perfect wedding day was over too soon. -

They were very accommodating and Gina our wedding coordinator was very helpful and helped us with everything we needed for our reception. If you are looking for a place to have your wedding reception in the Rancho Palos Verdes area this is the place to have it. -

The only problem we had with them is when our catering manager quit about 2 months before our wedding and for some reason the notes she had made regarding what we wanted/did not want were not transferred to the new catering manager. -

Starr Sent on 07/29/2014The Terranea Resort provided the dream backdrop to our wedding, the views and grounds are absolutely amazing. Gina Knight, Leslie McCannon and their staff were absolutely wonderful. Gina did such a great job organizing our wedding and trying to accommodate all of our requests. She is professional, friendly and responsive. The Catalina Ballroom and Terrace made the perfect setting for our classic Hollywood wedding theme. The food was perfectly cooked and served promptly and was exactly what we expected. From our arrival to Sunday brunch and pool time we enjoyed the resort very much.
We stayed in the Villas and it was a great setting to have our family's over for meet and greets and social events. The views were gorgeous and the maid staff was friendly and usually came to clean the room when requested. There were a few times when they weren't available to clean up before photo sessions but for the most part they were on call. However, the biggest downside is the Terranea cannot guarantee specific room or villa numbers, you can request them but may not actually get them. We spent a good deal of time trying to make sure our family members were accommodated accordingly, we were told we could have the villas we requested and then two days before the wedding they moved my family from an adjacent villa to one on the far end of the property. This caused many problems for my family, the biggest issue being the hot tub in that villa never worked properly despite repeated phones calls. The reservation staff is hard to get a hold of and not very accommodating to your specific needs.
The other issue we had was shuttle service. If you are on a time schedule what-so-ever you better start walking because you will make it from the villa to the hotel faster. We tried using our own golf carts only to be repeatedly harassed by the night security guard for transporting my elderly grandmother to her room.
All-in-all gorgeous setting with some minor problems. -
User890995 Sent on 08/07/2012**If you are considering getting married at Terranea, please read this. I don’t ever write reviews but this experience really made me want to write this and is something -- I wish I would have known all of this before booking my wedding here…
Let me start off by saying that I had a beautiful wedding at Terranea and that it was a perfect night that my husband and I will never ever forgot. This was mostly due to the amazing location, the banquet captain, my wedding planner, bar tenders, and my own vendors.
HOWEVER, we encountered so many issues throughout the wedding planning process, it made us wish that we got married at another 5 star resort such as the Four Seasons that has a similar price point. Our many issues throughout the process were not with our immediate sales contact, Jennifer Hymann, but with other staff at all corporate levels of the resort who seemed either uninterested in, or stretched to the point that they couldn't, provide the level of client service that goes hand in hand with being a "5 star resort". I’d like to note that the hotel’s front office staff (Banquet captain, bellhops, pool staff, restaurant service) are GREAT. It’s the corporate office that is a nightmare to deal with, at many levels.
Our experience (and our vendors experiences) has made it exceedingly clear, in our minds, that management either does not take client service/hospitality seriously, or at least does nothing to cultivate a culture that's focused on client service/client care in the back office. The resort is not trying or is unwilling to go above and beyond simply "checking boxes" to ensure the delivery of an amazing end product/experience to its clients and guests. So unwilling to be flexible with everything!
Terranea gets most of its revenues from corporate accounts and IT SHOWS. They treated us as if we were unimportant and not a priority for them. Keep in mind, that we and our guests spent close to $150K that weekend if you count all the hotel rooms, food purchases and the wedding costs! This was simply unacceptable to us. Take your money and use it at a five star resort that will deliver throughout the entire process!!
I've also written TWO complaints post wedding to the resort and have heard nothing but crickets. Coincidence? I think not. They do not care about Wedding accounts.
