User2366160 Sent on 10/13/2015We had our wedding at a summer camp in the area and hired the Barnard Inn as the catering and bar. Will, the owner/chef, was fantastic. He was responsive to emails, organized, and listened to our preferences. He was also able to accommodate two guests with very restricted dietary requirements (they told us they were amazed by the beautiful and delicious meal they received), with very little work on our part - we just sent a list of what they couldn't have and he came up with something. He also coordinated with rentals and even handled ordering napkins (we didn't do any other linen rentals).
We are in NYC, so we only met with Will twice, the first to discuss what we liked/didn't like, after which he developed a menu that we refined over email, then we met again around 5-6 weeks before the wedding to go over logistics and details. He was able to accommodate all of our requests (specific type of soda, specialty cocktail) and even was able to make a family recipe for dessert. He also remembered from our first meeting that we love garlic, so the two meat main courses were served on a platter divided by several roasted heads of garlic, which was a fantastic surprise!
All of the responses we received from our guests about the food were very positive. We weren't able to try the appetizers ourselves, but we did have the salad and 3 main courses (2 meat, 1 veggie pasta), which were all amazing. The food was served family style, which everyone liked and worked very well, since they got to try some of everything. The service was great and no one had to wait for food, unlike plated or buffet.
Our planner/coordinator had nothing but great things to say about working with Will/the Barnard Inn. We were very pleased and definitely recommend them, and I know we'll be back to the restaurant whenever we're in the area.

User2284434 Sent on 08/24/2015I can not say enough about what a pleasure it was to work with Will, the owner and chef, and the rest of his team! My husband and I had approximately 95 people and cared about having an intimate setting with our family and friends. We had our ceremony out by the pond, followed by cocktails near the restaurant and then dinner and dancing under a tent we rented separately. We were able to completely customize our entire menu - food was one of the most important features of our wedding - and were extremely happy with the quality and presentation. We did a family style meal for dinner and all of our guests raved that it is the best food they have had at any wedding. Will's passion for the quality of the food and sticking with our vision was clear - one example that has stuck in my mind is when he called me the week before our wedding to say that the figs he had tried to source for one of our dishes did not look up to par, so he was planning on substituting them with another dish.
Will's team is experienced and worked really well with the other vendors; many of whom they had worked with previously. We live in Boston and we never had an trouble communicating with Will remotely. We did not hire a wedding coordinator, and really had no need to, as Will's team was very helpful in being responsive to our other vendors when necessary.
My husband and I could not have been more pleased with the level of service and quality we received from the team at the Barnard Inn. They genuinely cared about our vision for the day and took all steps to make sure that vision was achieved. We're so grateful to have worked with their team and are lucky that we get to go back to dinner when we're in Vermont for dinner! -

User2310938 Sent on 09/11/2015We hired Will (owner/chef) to cater our wedding, and he also hosted our rehearsal dinner at Barnard Inn. In short, the food was truly spectacular, their servers were delightful, and we could not be happier with how everything worked out. Our wedding was only weeks after Hurricane Irene hit Vermont, and we had to change our plans very quickly for our reception, as our planned tent location was wiped out by the rising flood waters. They offered to host the reception at their site - on short notice - which was a wonderful gesture. They also helped us find some local B&B's to host our guests that had to be relocated due to the closure of some local inns. We were able to move the tent location, but we still had our rehearsal dinner on location at Barnard Inn as planned. Will created a wonderful signature cocktail for the occasion and hosted a memorable night outside on the grounds of the Barnard Inn complete with a pig roast. We had 105 guests and a tent on the grounds - it was beautiful and memorable. Our guests still rave about the food, years later. Honestly, I am not sure if the food was better at our rehearsal dinner or the following night when they catered our wedding. We would recommend Will at Barnard Inn for any special occasion.
