My husband and I were married August 26, 2018 - We are from California, we live in Texas. We were high school sweethearts (40 years ago) and we were reunited just over a year ago. We decided we wanted to share our day with our family and friends in Southern California. A friend had gone to a function at Hurst Ranch in West Covina CA. She told us about it and we looked at the website. It looked exactly like what we wanted. All of our planning had to be done from Texas, which meant no face to face meetings. Everything had to be done over the phone. I called the venue and found out that Bashful Butler handles all of the catering and set up at the venue. I called Bashful Butler on a Saturday and left a message. I got a call back from Theresa in less than an hour. From the beginning Teresa was professional and friendly. She answered every question like it was my first question. Teresa sent us everything we needed to make our decisions. She also gave us recommendations for vendors like the florist and for the drapes/uplighting. Teresa was so great to work with. She was one of the key components that made our day perfect. The employees that were there the day of were awesome and the cake was amazing!! Thank you everyone at Bashful Butler that helped make my dream come true. -

User861092 Sent on 07/12/2012Working with Nancy at the Bashful Butler was so easy. She helped me finalize the schedule with what would be easiest, what was normal, and what I wanted. The food was amazing. I'm still getting compliments two months later! Everybody I talked to said they went back for seconds or thirds! Yes, I did manage to eat during all the excitement and I have to say that I chose an excellent catering company. I've even had people ask for a referral! -

Nicole Sent on 03/30/2010They rock!!! We were able to do some price comparisons with them and negotiate our catering. They were prompt with beautiful set up and the food was gooooooood! We received lots of compliments on their beef barbacoa. They do lots of catering for the city as well as major events like the rose parade in pasadena. Nancy is awesome!! -

Denise Sent on 06/14/2012Bashful Butler was the catering service designated to Hurst Ranch, where I was married on 05/26/2012. I was a bit hesitant at first because you pretty much hire them blind. There is no tasting until after you hire them. The tasting was not a sit down tasting either. They let you know what day they are preparing the same meal as you have selected or are considering and then you need to show up to their kitchen or hall. After we had our tasting we felt a great sense of relief because the food was good.
The person I worked with to book our wedding was Nancy. I booked about 9 months before the wedding and we put together an outline of what we wanted. Two weeks before the wedding we met up again to discuss all the details. We finalized the menu and discussed the timeline to make sure they were ready for the toast and the cake cutting.
The catering staff was very helpful on day of our wedding as we needed some last minutes tables set up outside for our ceremony. I was also able to drop off our burlap table squares a few days before so they could be set up on the tables. Nancy also threw in some colored linens she had for our cake table and any other place we might need them. The bartender & security staff were great as well. They checked in with us to make sure everything was going well during the dinner.
The only problem we encountered was our missing chair covers. I asked the staff when the chair covers were going to be set up. This was about 2 hours before our reception started. I had paid for the chair covers 2 weeks prior. Note: the chair covers are not ordered through Bashful Butler but through a vendor they work with. It turns out that whomever was in charge of ordering the chair covers forgot to order them & she was now on vacation. At that point I didn't care much because there was nothing that could be done. I was just glad that the chairs being used were white and didn't really look out of place with the decor. It was also very comforting to be refunded the $ on the spot.
Overall a good experience!!! -

We said I do on August 7, 2020. This day was amazing thanks to Donna and Robert. Donna was the woman behind all the bookings and little details and Robert ran our wedding to be as smooth as possible on our day. As you can see, we got married durning the pandemic. Hurst Ranch did an awesome job making sure to follow protocols and making sure that their staff and my guest were being safe. Mask were optional due to us moving the whole wedding outside last minute but never the less, it was better than I planned. The day was beautiful, the sun was out and there was a slight breeze. The pasta was so tasteful and reasonable and the cake was DELICIOUS! The details of this beautiful museum made our wedding the talk of the year. Thank you Hurst Ranch! -

Felicia Sent on 10/10/2008The Bashful Butler was very professional. The staff was very uniformed in attire, which made the service very formal. The food was really good. I have to add that there were a few disappointing moments regarding some silverware and the rolls that were served, but oher than that, it worked out well!!! Iliana was great to work with!!!
