The Woman's Club of Chevy Chase was a fantastic (and reasonably priced) site for our June 2014 wedding reception! The staff was tremendously helpful, letting us drop off our items the day before and even refrigerating the white wine and beer. The site seats at least 200 in the main room, with a smaller room perfect for cocktails. The wooden floors and columns are great if you want the historic feel we did, and they have these adorable little sitting areas with wingback chairs and sofas. There's ample parking, it's easy to find and it's very reasonably priced for the area. They were starting a renovation the week after our wedding, so I can't say how it will change in the future, but it was perfect for us!

The Women's Club of Chevy Chase (WCCC) is a great value for the price. It holds up to 250 people for under $3K. If you can beat that in the DC area, don't tell me because I couldn't find another place that wasn't the church social hall! With that said, it is old school. We loved it because it fit the "family party" vibe that we were going for and we dressed it up the way we wanted it. There is also a great little patio off the side that provides a little outdoor space if your guests want some air. Our caterer loved it because it has a full kitchen and made their job easy. There is also a stage and plenty of lighting options.

What you need to remember when dealing with the WCCC is that it has been around for a long time (my dad took dance lessons there in the 60s) and so have the managers. They are not interested in new ideas and if you suggest something out of the box, you will probably get a "no" answer. I think our contract was written on a typewriter and while they have email, phone is a much surer way to contact them. The down side to this is that the club managers don't always remember what you talked about in previous conversations, so be sure to write it down! The other thing to remember is that you are just getting a reception hall-- you are responsible for bringing things in and getting them out, which means a lot of legwork in the beginning and some very supportive friends after the event! But if you are up for it, it's a great deal and a great space. We had a fabulous wedding/party there and if we had to do it again, would definitely still go with the WCCC.

We so enjoyed our experience with the Women's Club of Chevy Chase. I know I'm the first person to review them, but I hope this gets them more exposure as a venue for weddings in the area. They host all sorts of other events there. They were so flexible, allowing us to set up on Thursday for our Saturday reception, and even on Friday as well. Nick is extremely nice and wants us to have the best day, at the same time making sure his members (the women) are taking care of too.

The grounds outside are beautiful, and we were able to turn the rustic, sometimes old looking venue into a beautiful place, inside and out. They were flexible with our vendors as well (DJ, lighting, catering, etc.). They also have a full kitchen, which is often a huge plus for caterers on site! Overall, it fit our style perfectly, you just have to have some imagination to make it your own. (Don't be afraid to ask to move the couches and other furniture that sit in the back of the room all the time - we had no problem moving them behind the stage or in another room).
